What does annual maximum mean ?

What does annual maximum of 1500$ in my dental insurance plan mean?If a dental procedure cost 100$ and insurance pays 60$ and i pay 40$, does full 100$ is counted toward 1500$ annual maximum, or just 60$ (as insurance company has paid only 60)
--------------------
As far as I know, it only counts what Insurance pays. So, it should be $60 towards your plan.

Dental expenses...?

Does anyone know how my 20 yr old son, who is a part time student and works part time can afford some much needed dental work ? He does not have insurance and I am disabled and have a limited income....we live in New Hampshire. Is there a way to get Dental coverage or help with these expenses?
--------------------
The best is Carecredit - you can get 12 or 18 months with no financing - go to Carecredit.com to get more info - good for your son for taking care of his dental health!!

Her mouth accidentally met his elbow. How should the dental bill be paid?

She bent over to pick something up, he was facing the other way, she came up quickly while his arm was coming down. POW! Right in the kisser. Cracked tooth = damages at $5000 (she wants an implant). They are lovers out of convenience, with no plans for a future together, in fact, relationship was about to end. She wants him to look into having his homeowner's insurance cover it. What is the right thing to do?
--------------------
Well, it would be a nice gesture on his part considering their financial situations. On the other hand, his rates will go up and it seems like a dental insurance situation - at least that's what his home owner's agency will argue. If she has medical/dental, why isn't she using it? Isn't that what its for? If not, well, I don't see why he should be required or compelled shoulder the entire thing if anything - it was an accident that she was just as much a part of. $5000.00? No way is an insurance company - home, dental, medical or any other going to accept that payout. They will maybe cover the minimum to fix the problem - and in this case they would be right to fight it. That's like - hey, you put a minor dig in my car door in the parking lot - I want a new car. WTF?

When should I try and make a claim?

I just recently got insurance at work that will be effective in December. The Dental part of my insurance states that they will pay 50% of major procedures including braces. I have needed braces every since I was in middle school but could never afford it. My mom says if I go in December and get it looked out and everything that my insurance will more than likely to drop me because I just go it and am already making a claim. How long should I wait until I go and have it looked at and done?
--------------------
Group insurance through your work, will not drop you. But before you rush off to get those braces, look at the LIMIT - how much they pay. Typically, they pay 50% UP TO $1,000 or $1500. So if the braces cost $4,000, they'll pay, $1,000 or $1500, OVER TWO YEARS, meaning, $50 a month, and you still have to pay the balance.

how much would it cost to pull two wisdom teeth.?

how much do you THINK it would cost to get two wisdom teeth pulled, i dont have any dental insurance, and they wouldn't need to put me under just local anesthesia , and please dont answer how would we know how much it would cost, thanks
--------------------
On average its around $500 per tooth. It will also depend on the dentist, procedure, difficulty...etc. I paid only $350 per tooth on my extractions because of this great plan I have: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago and they have saved me thousands on all dental services. From xrays, exams, fillings...etc. Even my braces. They even had my very affordable plan active in 2 hours and was able to use them the very same day. good luck and hope this helps.

low income, but want to get ceramic braces?

ok so im 16 yrs old and all of my friends are getting their braces off during the summer, and i plan to get mine during that time. Well i come from a low income family but my dad has provided dental insurance for me.Ive been begging my parents for braces and they said theyll see, im also going to start looking for a job so i can help pay for them.. but with how my background is but with my determination, do you think i can possibly get ceramic braces?
--------------------
I don't know anything about ceramic braces but I do know that insurance won't cover a whole lot of the cost of your braces. If you can go to a general dentist for your braces and add on a discount plan you'll be able to save significantly more on having your braces done. See link below for an excellent plan to choose. You can have your parents check it out and enroll for your family if it will meet your needs.

What to do for a tooth abscess??

I just moved to NM so i dont have dental insurance, in the mean time my tooth has been hurting me and I woke up this morning with a huge white bump under that tooth. I called my old dentist and he is prescribing me penicilion. What can i do for it myself? Does anyone know of a cheap dentist here? I know i have to do something soon, but how long after i'm done with the antibiotics??
--------------------
You can't do anything for it yourself. Taking the antibiotics will help, but only temporarily. They will take care of the infection, but not the source of infection, so it will come back. Often, it's worse when it returns. There's really no time frame, it depends on many factors and even your dentist probably can't tell you how long you can wait. Most offices will have outside financing available, many interest free. Go to carecredit.com and check them out. You may also be able to find a dental school in your area that will do the work for a much lower fee. Dental students perform the procedures, but there are qualified professionals overseeing them. Good luck, hope I helped!

How much are benefits worth?

My company pays for all my health, vision, dental, and life insurance benefits. I'm curious as to how much this is actually worth. My salary isn't low, but I'm wondering how much they are truly offering me in addition to my salary.
--------------------
Health benefits are aprox 3000-5000 per employee a year. It depends on what they cover.

Employer Benefits - Which are most important to you?

I'm interested in know which employer benefits are the MOST important to you. Some examples include: 1. Health Insurance 2. Dental Insurance 3. Vision Insurance 4. Pension Plan 5. Profit Sharing Plan 6. Paid Time Off 7. Employee Assistance Program (mental health) 8. Tuition Assistance Program (college) There are many others as well, so you don't have to pick just from this list. If you could just give me your top 3 that would be great. Thank you for your time.
--------------------
At the current time: 1. Health Insurance 2. Tuition Assistance Program 3. Paid Time Off I'm sure my priorities will change over the years, but for now I'm working part-time and going to college so these top three make the most sense for me.

How is Costco Socially Responsible ?

I know they provide their employees with Health/Dental Care, Life Insurance,401(k) plans, etc, but how are they socially responsible to their consumers?
--------------------
Costco is very careful with maintaining a perfect temperature for all the products they sell, they really exagerate on that, trust me, they keep the sausages used for the hot dogs at super hot temperatures so they don't create bacteria, they clean and sanitize all the equipment used at the food court/meat room/deli every night

military wives: questions about insurance, please help?

i know my insurance will cover part of my dental work, but does anyone know around how much you have to pay to have a cavity filled, or have wisdom teeth removed? and also do you know if dentists do any type of plan were you can make monthly payments if you cant afford the procedure
--------------------
Military dental only covers 20% of costs for a dependant. As your dentist how much whatever you need done will cost (including tax and such) then take 20% from it.that's how much you'll pay out of pocket.Good luck.

Cheap health insurance?

I graduated college and I am getting kicked off my parents plan. I don't have a job with benefits available, although it will become available in September. Are there any plans that have a low monthly payment? I don't need anything fancy, just catastrophic insurance. I don't need RX, Eye, Dental, just the bare minimum. Any suggestions?
--------------------
You need what is called short term health insurance. These are no frills health insurance policies with your choice of deductible and length of term. Many companies offer this type of coverage. Talk to your insurance agent or perhaps your parent's agent.

Thinking of getting dental implants. need info?

I feel as a child and broke my teeth. I need to have them recrowned and also I need to have partials put in 3 spots where I have lost other teeth on the top row. I have alot of dental problems and was thinking of having the top ones removed and getting dentures. What are the steps and cost if anyone knows. I have excellent insurance but would still like a price to get a idea before I go talk to a dentist. Thanks

Ask your Dentist for a proposed treatment plan to provide to Your Insurance company. Predeterminations help you understand your payment responsibilities A way to minimize your out-of pocket expense for dental care is to ask your dentist for a "predetermination" from the dental carrier paying the claims before you agree to receive any prescribed, major treatment. This can ensure you know up front what the dental plan will pay, and the difference you will be responsible for. Your dentist may be able to present alternative treatment options that will lower your share of the bill, while still meeting your basic dental care needs. Hope this is helpful. Also remember you may coverage for a free 2nd and 3rd opinon. Always best to call your insurance company directly and ask the national average of fee/costs and their share of costs and/or perecentages and so on. Many patients are intimidated by dental implant prices and are looking for ways to save money. To learn more about average costs for dental implants and money-saving options, please click here. According to the report, prices for dental services increased by 4.9 percent in 2004, compared with general prices that increased by only 2.7 percent. In fact, the CPI for dental services has exceeded percentage increases for the CPIs of all items in aggregate except medical care since 1995 and the one-year percentage increase in 2004 was the highest since 1993. Data on CPI figures are calculated by the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics. Copies of the Consumer Price Index for Dental Services, 1970-2004 report are available for $15 for ADA members, $22.50 for non-member dentists and $45 for commercial firms. Unfortunately, students are automatically disqualified from public assistance (unless they have children.) Unless you can purchase health insurance through your university, or afford an individual plan, you're screwed. Welcome to the USA. Don't vote for Republicans if you want this problem to be solved.

How can I treat a sinus toothache?

I understand that it is better to consult a dentist about this problem, but I am currently a college student on my mom's health insurance and we do not get dental coverage, nor can we afford it. Are there any home remedies I can try? I do have sinus medicine, but that only helps me when I have other sinus problems.

How do you calculate punitive damages?

My ex-husband (by court order) has to provide medical coverage for our daughter. Approximately 1 year ago my daughter had some dental work done. Her father's insurance company sent him the checks that were to go for paying the dental bill. Of course the checks were cashed, and the money spent (without the bill getting paid). I was just recently notified of this by a collection agency, as I am getting sued for this outstanding debt (being the responsible party on her medical/dental paperwork). I just got all of the evidence that I need to take him to court, and will be doing so soon. I am going to be asking for an award of punitive damages, as this has been placed on my credit, therefore causing derogitory information to be displayed. The bill is $695.00. How would I calculate an appropriate amount to sue for? Basically I want the punitive damages to pay for going to a "debt specialist" to have this removed from my credit.

You're quite cloudy on how the girl's daddy managed to cash checks made out to the dentist--and spend the $$$ on his own personal frivolous needs. Unless A: daddy forged signatures, posed as a dental employee and managed to snag cash from a bank or B: You stupidly sent daddy blank checks---which leaves you lucky the guy didn't clean out your bank acct and Road Runner sprint to Vegas. Beep beep!! Way things have so far been explained....looks like plan B got done on ya!! And you DID sign legally binding documentation that puts YOU paying ALL dental fees not covered by insurance (which I hope this girl was given SOME form of dental insurance coverage.....right????) So as night and day: it's clear who pays for your girl's dental work: YOU DO!! And the daddy is toasting glasses in his favorite bar!! But karma will fix that in time.....right now, you need to focus on some things!! Even in small claims court, lady: YOU DON'T HAVE A CASE!!! So, WHOA down on firing up engines to sue the lousy daddy for anything. Your best---and more mature---option right now, is to chalk this up to a lesson learned and take all the bills to a Credit Counseling Service. Many of them are completely FREE--and they can calculate a strict budget you can follow that can clear the debts owed, get bill collectors off your back and--in some cases--LOWER credit time appreciative interest rates!!! This give and take may affect your credit score--but it's no damage you can't fix---as long as you DO learn the lessons of life a bit better from here on out.......

California health insurance?

I just need to know the monthly cost of health insurance in california, for a school project. If you know how much dental costs it would be nice if you could tell me that also. Thanks! p.s. its for two people
--------------------
The cost for a California health insurance plan for 2 people will vary quite a bit depending upon: the age of the applicants, the deductible on the plan, whether the plan is a group plan or an individual plan, and many other things. Generally speaking: The older the applicant the more expensive the plan will be. The lower the deductible the more expensive the plan will be. California individual health insurance is much cheaper than California group health insurance. California dental insurance is fairly cheap - about $20 to $50 monthly. Here is some more specifics on California health insurance:

so i just quit my job(my choice wasn't fired or laid off) to go back to school, medical insurance question

my job offered vision, dental, and medical. although i wasnt happy doing my job and it would of been the end of me with stress. so im going to go to a community college and then hopefully a university or state after. i still have a fall back job that pays $14 an hour part time(obviously no insurance) so i can still afford my car insurance along with other things like gas, classes, books, and so on. so how can i get insurance? whats the best way to get medical insurance. i think i can sacrifice vision and dental for the time being but you never know when a bus is gonna shatter your arm.
--------------------
Your old job also should have offered you COBRA, depending on the size of your employer. This could be cheaper than some of the other individual plans but not as cheap as some of the plans offered through the universities. Good luck!

is there anything i can do for a nerve exposed on my tooth i am 22?

i do not have any insurance for dental. i would like to know if i can do anything at home for the time being.
--------------------
Having a fear of dentists and their prices I have two nerves exposed in my mouth! I use ambesol and a temporary filling I bought at CVS or Walgreens or any drug store. I swish my mouth with warm salt water twice per day (morning and night) when I brush and It helps. I've also swished with warm Capt' Morgan once in awhile if it really hurts bad and that helps! You can also rub a Bayer children's aspirin (small orange chewable pill)on the sore tooth to make the pain go away! Good Luck!
