What is a affordable health insurance that covers DENTAL?

or at least some of the cost?
--------------------
Most likely your most affordable, best coverage plan will be one that an employer offers. If this is not an option for you, an alternative to health insurance would be a discount health and/or dental plan. I only have personal experience with Ameriplan, but I have located a website with information about other discount health plans. I will list both below as sources. A discount health plan often has more affordable monthly premiums than health insurance.

Can someone take a look at my dental insurance, I have a question about it?

Please review your plan documents for full details, including exclusions, limitations and state mandates that might affect your benefits. Please be aware Deductibles and Maximums apply to both the In-Network and Out-of-Network Benefits. I turned 25 on september 2nd, can I not use this insurance anymore for myself, its dental insurance through my employer so it wasnt explained very well, or can I use it maybe until right before I turn 26, meaning can I use it while I'm 25 or did it end as soon as I turned 25?

Student limitation is most likely towards any dependants that you have on your coverage - not you as the policy holder.

What are dental options for the uninsured?

I make pretty good money, but my company doesn't have dental insurance and I don't really want to drop $1000 for a crown. Are there any options for those who don't have dental insurance but don't qualify for medicaid or other low-income places?
--------------------
I really have a problem with the way our government is handling the medical problems of it's citizens. I don't have dental coverage either, and believe me after having to shell out seven hundred dollars for two teeth to be removed plus anesthesia I was mortified. You at least have a job. I don't because I'm on disability (no prescription cov either). What are people like us supposed to do? I guess we have two choices. Let your teeth decay, and fall out or go to a private dentist, and pay up the nose. In your case because you are employed, and make a good salary you should be able to pay on a payment plan with your dentist because they do have them. Why not try to find out if they have a dental college in your area? If they do I would take a chance depending on the severity of your problem. I think it would be less expensive than a private dentist.

I do not qualify for medicaid or family health plus. I have to pay for 2 root canals ($1400), 2 crowns($2000), 1 tooth extraction ($200) and cost of adult orthodontic treatment ($7000)!!! I am looking for private dental insurance but am having a very hard time finding... anyone can suggest any or other ieas to help me in this situation? I live in New York City... am 25 year old woman, single no kids, receive unemployment benefits after lay-off.

Hello, I would encourage you to visit this great website: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands of dollars on all services. From extractions, crowns, Cleanings, root canals, exams, xrays, cleanings, fillings...etc. Even my braces and cosmetic surgery are included in this very affordable plan. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Is there a dental insurance?

is there something like that? so that we'll just pay less ryt?
--------------------
You have five options with dental. 1. Go without insurance. If you have good teeth and just want the basics you probably don't need any plan. A yearly cleaning and exam and even an occasional filling will cost you less without insurance. 2. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you. You can find one here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Den… 3. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With insurance you pay $460 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. 4. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With discount plans you pay around $827. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… concerning these plans. 5. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

I'm looking for a good individual dental insurance plan...?

A dental insurance plan that will cover 100% of basic trips to the dentist office (check- up, cleaning, filling, etc.) I lost my job 8 months ago and have been without any insurance. I called my dentist office to ask what they thought was a good insurance plan and I learned a lot on what to watch out for on some of the plans out there. I have had the same dentist for 10 yrs. and would like to stay with them, but I guess a lot of the individual plans have only set dentists you can go to. Does anyone know of a great plan that would be good for me to check into?

Trying to get on fiance dental insurance but hit a "snag" can anyone help me with this?

My fiance got the ok from HR to put me on his dental insurance as "domestic partner" since we live together. The problem is he STILL had his exwife listed on there too and we did not know it! They have been divorced for over 5 yrs and "he" said he told them and they must have made a mistake. HR took his exwife off NOW but my question is be it his fault, his works or the insurence company is this going to delay me getting coverage? Also how can your exwife be on your insurence for 5 yrs and no one know? I can't call his work as he told me he'll take care of it

I am looking for individual dental insurance other than Aetna DMO. I live in Northern Virginia. Thanks!?

I am so dissatisfied with the dentists on the Aetna DMO network in Northern Virginia. I have been to so many and each one tells me a different story about my teeth and what needs to be done. I know I have 2 cavities that need to be taken care of asap. I also know that I would need a crown for each of them. The dentists so far have said I need to do '6 root canals', and another dentist says that I have 'half a dozen cavities but no root canals. Today the same dentist tells me I have only 3 cavities and nothing else. Two crowns became 3 crowns within the span of 2 weeks etc... Either these dentists can't read the xrays or they want to rip off the patients. I was told my gums are sensitive and I would need to treat them first before my cavities. I have no bleeding, no pain or any such symptoms that would show sensitive gums. I feel so misled. I want to know how much it would cost for me to buy individual dental insurance. Also if you know a dentist who is genuine, pls let me know tx

Where can I get inexpensive dental insurance?

I have Medicare/Medicaid here in Nevada, cause I've been laid off of work for 2 years now...but because I'm over 21 yrs.old, Medicaid will only cover dental work such as dentures and x-rays...but I have a broken cavity that needs 2 be repaired, cause over the years it's been cracked and has fallen out completely. Now I'm in severe pain, I can't hardly eat or drink anything, and I need HELP ASAP!!! I don't know much about insurances, so if anyone can please give me some advise or a # to call 4 affordable dental insurance, I'd really appreciate it. I basically just need some fillings done.
--------------------
It's a long shot, but try calling your closest university. A small community college near my town offers free cleanings and $20 whitenings. No telling what some of the bigger universities need. I know that a lot of dentists would be willing to work with you concerning your bill. Try calling around, and get different bids. In any case, you're going to have to set some money aside.

Parents don't have dental insurance for me.. what should I do?

I went to the dentist for the first time yesterday [lol] - my aunt took me to her dentist in another province then my own. I have a class ||| under bite, my I tooth is still a baby tooth and the adult tooth is on an angle over top my front teeth in my bone, and my back back molars are missing, they can see two molars in my gums but they say they have no root :/ so they may be undeveloped wisdom teeth and lastly I need braces. Unfortunately my parents don't have dental insurance for me, and I need to get surgery's and braces, and I'm only 14. - Turn 15 in December. Is there anyway I can get my own dental insurance or benefits so I can fix my teeth and jaw? PLEASE HELP.
--------------------
Even with dental Insurance or a Dental Discount plan you will still have cost for the procedures you are describing. Dental Insurance or Plans are designed to help cut your cost. Your parents may be able to buy dental insurance or plan just for you. If that is not a choice for you then you may want to look into seeing if you have any dental schools that you can go to to have the work done. Since they are schools they will either be free or low cost. I hope you find what you are looking for and good lucky http://www.insurancecompany.com

In need of a good dental insurance plan in South Florida.

I desperately need braces but I can't afford them, neither can my parents. I have two teeth that I call my shark teeth because they grew in back of my normal line of teeth. One on the top, and one on the bottom. So it bothers the hell out of my tongue and I can't stand it anymore. I'm always getting those annoying sore taste buds, like one would get if they bite their tongue, on my tongue because one of my "shark teeth" is my fang so it hurts like hell. I need to fix my teeth but I'll need a good dental insurance plan that covers a big percentage of the cost of my braces. And it cant be just a dental discount plan, those on average only discount 25% and I need more than that. I'm 17, I live with my parents and they'll be paying for it, but it will only be a single plan, not a family plan. I live in South Florida. So if anyone can give me the name of a great insurance plan, then you'll be a miracle worker. Thank you.
--------------------
Sorry, but I'm not a miracle worker. I just have the facts. Very few individual dental insurance plans will cover braces because they are considered cosmetic. However, some will if the dentist says that braces are a medical necessity and there are no other options. The other options would be pulling the teeth and placing a bridge, which means if that is possible the braces won't be covered even if you don't want your teeth pulled. How long can you wait for the braces? All dental insurance plans have a waiting period before you can get full benefits. The plans that may cover your braces in the right circumstances will have a waiting period of 12 to 24 months. They also will only cover a percentage - usually 50% up to the yearly maximum. Most better plans have a yearly maximum of $1500. A visit to a local agent that works with all the major plans in your area will be beneficial because the agent can find out if any plans will cover braces. There is no extra charge using an agent. So in the best case scenario you can find a plan that will cover your braces. You'll pay the $40 - $60 premium for at least 12 months before you can get the braces. Say the braces cost $5000. The plan picks up 50% up to $1500 so they pay $1500 and you pay $3500 plus the premium, or around $3800. With a discount plan the premium will be around $100 per year. You will get a discount of 25% off of the braces so you pay $3750 plus the $100 premium, or around $3850. Comes out to about the same out of pocket cost but you don't have to wait. I'm an insurance agent and sell both insurance and discount plans. My personal plan is the fee for service discount plan which you can get here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

How much should I expect to pay for dental insurance??

I'm on Social Security and the dental insurance in Florida for people on SSI seriously SUCKS.....it's pretty much if anything is wrong with any tooth, they pull it. I've been looking at dental insurance online, but I'm kind of leery because I don't want to get rooked into something that doesn't really help out. One of those dumb supplemental plans they make for suckers..... So, how much a month should I expect to pay for dental insurance?? ALSO, if anyone else is in my situation, do you have a good plan?? And with who?? THANK YOU!! :)

Wisdom Teeth Extraction: Ameriplan OR Dental Insurance?

All 4 of my wisdom teeth are impacted - 1 is 2/3rds the way out, 1 is moving slightly and I've yet (knock on wood!) to have any issues with the other 2. I was a member of Ameriplan a few years back but never had to use it because I was covered under BlueCross in which I am no longer covered under either. Would it be best to re-register with the Ameriplan (25% discount) or an individual dental insurance (which would POSSIBLY be more beneficial depending on the coverage amount/deductible, etc.) for about the same $ monthly? If you feel as though the individual dental insurance would be best, does anyone have any recommendations for coverage companies, etc.? Thanks! ps- PLEASE don't SPAM this with the Ameriplan links & false reviews!
--------------------
Thats a tough decision to make. Ameriplan will cover anywhere from %25-%50 and you pay less per month on the benefits, on the other hand insurance may cost a little more each month and also have a waiting period before it can be used. I believe the insurance should cover %50 of the cost or typically up to $2500 for orthodontic treatment. I believe the best bet would be for you to call the providers in the area and find out how much it would cost for braces weather it would be ameriplan or insurance. Im like you, I have both. Here is my reps website.. www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com there should be a link for provider search and begin your search by calling the orthodontist. Then compare with possible insurance. www.dentalplans.com will have some insurance companies you could compare to. Call providers and get an estimate.

I have no money and no insurance ***DENTAL***?

I had two teeth that were both in need of a root canal. I could only afford to have one tooth taken care of, they put me on Care Credit and I am paying that off gradually each month. Now the other tooth is acting up and this morning I woke up with some swelling around the face. This tooth also has an abscess, I have no money and I also have no insurance and I don't know what to do now. There are no dental schools in the area, 1800Dentist acctually told me that they have no idea what I should do, and when I try to sign up for dental insurance I get the run around pretty hardcore. I was in the military, but the VA says that they will not work on your teeth unless that was the reason you were released from duty. Which it wasn't, i served my full time. Shouldn't it be easier for a veteran to get dental coverage! Anyway, no one will help me and I am this close to just preforming some sort of dentistry on myself. What should I do?

How much does dental insurance cover for wisdom tooth removal?

How much of the total fees will my dental insurance cover for getting a couple wisdom teeth taken out? I know it can vary, but I would like a ballpark estimate. I know it's 150 per tooth for a normal extraction before insurance, which isn't horrible... but it's twice as much if it requires a surgical removal. Which leads me to another question. When do they do surgical removals? Do the teeth have to be impacted? Mine are not impacted, but they are party covered by gums in the back (which is causing the pain that makes me want them removed). It still looks like they could get a grip on them though.
--------------------
Your medical insurance may also cover the costs of getting them out. It would say, "surgical removal of impacted wisdom teeth". It sounds like you fall in this category. Good luck.

Where can i find cheap dental work in Southern California?

I would also recommend Mexico because ive been, although like anywhere else you must do your due dilligence. and get recommendations before you decide.I managed to save around 90% of what it would have cost me. I had 28 top quality porcelain caps/crowns at a cost of $2400 Quite a saving on the $36,000 i was quoted at home. For more info see below. Hope this helps

Will my dental insurance cover the cost of fillings for my cavities?

I have a couple cavities and will be going to the dentist this Monday. I have Tricare as my dental insurance. They cover: diagnostic and preventative services, basic restorative services(fillings) and other surgeries. This is what it says on their site and I just want someone to make this clear for me. Do I have to pay 20% of the cost or is is that only for requests? Resin/Composite Fillings Cost-Share Under the TDP program, basic restorative procedures (fillings) have a cost-share of 20 percent for the member with United Concordia paying the remaining 80 percent when the care is received from a TDP network provider. The most common materials used for fillings are amalgam (silver) and composite resin (tooth-colored). What is Covered? Under the TDP, the covered benefit for posterior (back) fillings is amalgam (silver). If the dentist and member select resin for back teeth fillings, the member must pay the difference between what the silver fillings would have cost and how much the resin costs. Resin fillings are covered for anterior (front) teeth only. For example, a family member needs a filling on a back tooth. The dentist places a silver filling at the allowable reimbursement rate of $100. Under the TDP, United Concordia pays 80 percent or $80 cost-share and the member pays a 20 percent cost or $20 cost-share. If the dentist places a resin filling on a posterior tooth at the member's request and bills $140, United Concordia still pays only $80 (the 80 percent cost-share for a silver filling). The member now pays $60 (the $20 cost for the silver filling and the additional $40 in billed charges).
--------------------
Yes you pay 20% unless you get a white filling on a back tooth, if you decide to get a white filling on a back tooth you will have to pay 20% plus the difference in cost between the silver filling and the white filling.

Is a root canal considered "dental surgery" according to dental insurance companies?

I'll try to make this short. I was covered by my mom's insurance when I was in school and had to get a dental onlay because I had a major cavity that came on in a very short time between cleanings. I went through a period of being uninsured then I started coverage on myself through my work as of January 1st, and in the time that I was uninsured like late in the last year, my onlay became loose. It doesn't bother me at all but I'm going to go back to the same dentist that did that procedure because luckily I can do that with my new insurance. However, I'm afraid that if the cavity progressed to far I may need a root canal. My insurance says it covers 80% on the following: fillings, minor restoration, endodontics and dental surgery. It covers 50% on crowns, dentures and partials. In general is the root canal treatment included in dental surgery? (I know the crown is separate/not included) Thanks... I'm asking because I'm having issues with the website and the 1-800 automated line only gives me basic info on my coverage, like what I told you above.
--------------------
My insurance says it covers 80% on the following: fillings, minor restoration, endodontics and dental surgery. Ok to answer your question quickly, you already answered your own question since a root canal is known as endodontic therapy it is not surgery but is part of endodontics which your insurance company stated it covers 80% of. So be prepared to pay about around 150 to 200 dollars depending on how much your dentist charges for root canals and the difficulty of the case. Also even if the decay is deep it might not need a root canal only a dentist can confirm such a diagnosis and until then I would not worry too much. hope this helps, 3rd Year Dental Student, Future Endodontist
