Toothache.. No dental insurance.?

I have a temp. crown on tooth #20. I haven't had a chance to go get the perm. crown put on. I got a root canal back in April. My dental coverage from the state got cut off on the 15th. I still get medical coverage. I woke up today & my tooth is killing me right around the area of the crown. What should I do? Should I go to the ER? If so, what will they do?
--------------------
Look and see for the dental school and sometimes they will help you..I know my family in San Antonio, Texas that is what they do because they dont have insurance either..and I donot think they charge.. they are students learning to become dentists and they are being spotted by a real Dentist as they do the work..try that..and see if you have one there..Hope I helped ..

No dental insurance! Low income! Where do I go? I'm in pain!?

I don't know where to go to have some very troubling teeth pulled. I had a couple root canals done with temporary crowns, which I find out that they really are temporary. The crowns fell off and on xmas day I woke up to a swollen face which got bigger and bigger! The swelling is gone now, but I need some guidance.

Does anyone have AETNA dental insurance?

and if so...for invisalign how much did you have to pay out of pocket?? i just need one for the bottom not top..
--------------------
Aetna is one of the companies we represent. Solid dental coverage, but it depends on what policy you have with them. Preventive coverage will be solid but major items will have some out of pocket expense. http://www.ohioquotes.com

Secondary insurance for Invisalign treatment?

I am planning to get myself Invisalign and looks like it a costly affair. My dental insurance has an orthodontic maximum of 1500, can I get a secondary insurance to cover the rest of the amount not covered by my primary?
--------------------
Probably won't be able to find one. Most policies do not coordinate benefits that way. If the primary has a benefit of $1,500 and the secondary has a max of $2,000 then the secondary might pick up a portion of the $500 difference. But there are waiting periods, and such. It wouldn't pay you back in benefits compared to the cost of the premium. Better just to save your pennies. You might be able to get a discounted rate if you can pay for the whole thing up front.

Dental schools in Fort Worth, Texas that will pull wisdom teeth for cheap?

I don't have very much money and no insurance. I have looked into buying some dental insurance but every one of them had a waiting period to get oral surgery done. I need them extracted as soon as possible. I can't sleep I have a constant headache, my jaw clicks. It would be ideal if a bill could be sent and I could make payments.
--------------------
There are no accredited dental schools in Fort Worth. However, the Baylor University Dental School is in Dallas, so you might want to check them out. The number for patients is 214-848-8441, and their main number is 214-448-8100. But most dentists can make payment arrangements, so you might also want to look into that. Even those dentists that are not set up to take payments over time themselves will often set you up with CareCredit or a similar time-payment plan. Anyway, if Baylor doesn't work out, ask your dentist about payments. http://www.carecredit.com/

I was in college and as under my parents dental insurance. A few months later I went to mexico for a religious mission and after coming back I realized that my credit report had a collection for dental bills from 2 years ago. This has really hurt me and I want it gone. What can I do? Please answer both questions.
--------------------
yes you can be sent to collections, you are an adult and that is all they care about, the only way to get rid of it is to pay them

Dental insurance??

My dad gets dental insurance through work but there is a problem, no dentist in our city take the insurance that he gets from work, there is only one dentist and they are full and won't take any new paitents!! What would you suggest my dad does?? Should he call the insurance company and tell them that no dentist in our area take the insurance, will they be able to do anything about it?? Should he call that one dentist and tell them that they have to take our family as paitents, will that do anything?? What are some other options!!
--------------------
You cannot force a dentist to accept new patients even if he does accept the insurance. Call the insurance company and let them know the situation. They will try to find a dentist for you in your location. If you have a dental PPO they may allow you to go outside of the network and get coverage at in network rates.

Dental Insurance?

Was wondering if there is any dental insurance plans that would cover (or help) taking care of my dental veneers if anything should ever happen to them
--------------------
I have AmeriPlan. It's better than insurance because they dont have any restrictions except braces you already have. You save a nice chunk o' change.

dental insurance?

can any1 tell me how i can find some dental insurance that is not expensive.i was on medicaid and that covered everything but then i got switched to family health plus and it will not cover dental.i dont know what to do.i was suppose to get a tooth pulled today and im due for a bunch of fillings
--------------------
If you were to purchase your own dental insurance, it would be very expensive. The best thing to do is find a doctor who uses care credit (and citibank has their own version of this). These companies act as a loan for dental work - so they pay the dentist for the work and you can create a payment plan to reimburse them - their finance fees are very competitive. You can also research free clinics in your area - they are usually associated with schools of dentistry or dental hygiene... the future doctors and hygienists need to learn somehow.

Question about Dental insurance.?

i have dental insurance with metlife...???

my year limit is 1500.00 ...but i need two root canels and have many cavities will my insurance cover the cost....i went to dentist and they r charging me 1900.00 for all the procedures?? i dont understant why if i have insurance?? can u advise me?
--------------------
Ask them to request a pre-treatment estimate from MetLife. Then you'll know approximately how much you'll have to pay out-of-pocket. Just because your annual maximum is $1500 doesn't mean that MetLife will pay the first $1500... their payments are based on 'usual and customary' fees and will only pay a percentage on certain procedures... Good luck to you. :)

I'm 55,on disability.I have no dental insurance.I need regular cleanings,x-rays & fillings-Best plans for me?

Who provides plans for dental?
--------------------
I cannot tell you who provides a good dental plan, there are so many and I don't know where you are located. However, you might want to consider going to your local dental hygiene or dental school as they often provide very thourough care at very low cost. The hygiene school that I went to asks for a $10.00 donation and they can take care of your cleaning and xray needs. They might also be able to refer you to a local dentist or nearby clinic to take care of any fillings you might need. Good luck! JAMRDH - a dental hygienist

Dental/Dentist/Insurance Question???

So maybe I am a person that loves to save money but so what...I simply don't want to spend money on the things that we don't need to. Two yrs ago my DH spent over 7K on his teeth (deep cleanings, porcelains, etc). Well now they want more money because apparently they need to perform the same procedure on the back teeth which they didn't do before. I am 6 months pregnant, we're planning for me to stay at home after the baby so we're trying to save as much as we can. My open enrollment at work starts in July so I can add DH to dental and he'll have another $1500 to use but I am going on maternity after that so the coverage will only be in July and not after that since we won't take Cobra for it later. The dentist refused to bill the insurance for it and demanded my husband pays cash because it takes 3 months to pay or something ands aid that DH shouldn't wait till July. I don't think its true, I think he just wants upfront money and not have to wait. What are your thoughts?
--------------------
Most dentist do make patients pay ahead of time. Keeping in mind that they are going to bill you for the actual cost, not what is going to be discounted if they participate with your Insurance company. You will also want to get with your Insurance company and see what the coverage for those services are. Depending on your plan, it could be covered at a lesser amount then you think or not at all. Your insurance will be billed and it will be paid based on your plan, most likely you will have over paid the Dentist. (I see it happen all the time!) Its really hard to get your money back from them also. Most of the time they say they will just apply the credit to your next visit! So it is really up to you what you would like to do. <--- works for health insurance company!

Where can someone with no dental insurance(on ssi & medicare)find help when EXTENSIVE work needed? quoted 64g!

I have a long history with bulimia and meth use. Sober for the first time in years, I am fat and happy trying to rebuild my life and now, teeth. I just got a new place and reconciled with my ex and am newly engaged. We have some money to work with monthly but no savings. Am very determined to do all I can to salvage and any direction shown that might help will be pursued and appreciated. Time for me to spend time resources and energy into living instead of dying! = ) Nicki
--------------------
Wow...sounds like you have overcome a great deal! The only thing that I know to do is to find a dental school in your area and get your work done there. It may take more time, because the students have to get approval for everything, but the cost is very cheap! And since they have Dentists overseeing their work, you can trust them. Also, most Dentists who do the kind of work that you are talking about are almost through with school! Most of them look for those who need extensive work in order to practice or to use a patient for an assignmet etc. Good luck!

looking for a dental plan with whitening?

I trying to purchase dental insurance which includes whitening. If the plan will pick up a percentage of the cost that's acceptable.
--------------------
You may have a hard time finding dental insurance that covers dental cosmetics like teeth whitening. On the other hand dental discount plans do not have the exclusions on cosmetic dental care, so you could get the work done and receive a discount on teeth whitening as well as your other dental care. See the discount plans below.

so i dont have dental insurance...?

i live in nj and i dont have dental ins or money to pay full price at a dentists office. I've heard about the dental clinics and how they charge you based off of your income but whenever i have tried calling them they say that they dont make appointments. i just have to be there b4 8oclock and be one of the first three people standing in line cuz thats all theyll take. i've tried and so far i cant be seen. does anyone know of anywhere cheap? my teeth are killing me. its an emergency
--------------------
Dental insurance is not cheap. My father paid for his himself (not thru employer) and decided to cancel it. Rather than pay $25-40/mo he just paid the dentist for hsi 2 annual visits and it was cheaper. This is great if you don't have any major issues. At the same time if your problem is something as simple as a pop corn kernel that can be fixed with just a regular visit and would probably be worth the $100 it may cost u. Dont be one of "those people" who only wants to get insurance for 1 month to fix ur problem and cancel. A lot of self-pay policies have 6-18 month waiting periods before you can do more than a just a cleaning anyway..
