Pay for braces for child (child support) when supplemental insurance has not kicked in jet?

We pay child support for my husbands daughter and provide all medical and dental coverage. We also recently got supplemental insurance coverage which will cover her braces if needed. We told my husbands Ex that the supplemental dental insurance will not kick in till after a certain amount of time. We now just received a bill for his daughters braces. His Ex didn't wait till the insurance kicked in and got the braces done now. She wants us to pay for the whole sum. What amount exactly are we obligated to pay? We want his daughter to get her braces and have nice teeth but I'm a little upset that his Ex didn't wait till our insurance kicked in! Could we decline to pay since she didn't wait for the insurance?
--------------------
Get a medical loan, pay it for the braces, and then take the loan to court regarding payments for your ex since it sounds like it should be a 50/50 deal. http://www.fhf.co.za/covered-medical-pro…

free or low cost dental work at college or university.?

So I have no dental insurance like most young 22 year old college students living on their own with little money in their account. I need to get my wisdom teeth removed. I don't go to georgia tech but I live near by and I found out that they do have a dental program. I'm wondering if they take volunteers to do work on by the students for a low fee or maybe free. Where would I go to find out if they do take volunteers. Not just G tech but for any college in general. At this point I don't care if they are students so I don't mind that they are inexperienced. Plus they are always supervised by licensed instructors anyways so if something goes wrong or the student backs out they can take over. -So is their a good website to find out such information - Should I go to the college to find out, if so what part of the college should visit. - or should I just kick in the do waiving the fo-fo and demand action, lol.
--------------------
I was in the same situation when I was in college also years ago. I would encourage you to visit this site: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands on all services. From exams, crowns, fillings, cleanings...etc. All services are included in this very affordable plan. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. I hope this helps.

why is it there is no emergency dental care available like there is for medical such as an er?

Over the years I have paid for plenty of dental work. Root canals that failed, extractions..when I had the money I paid for it myself. At this time I have no dental insurance and am unemployed. My dental issues are affecting my health so badly that some days I can barely function. I am beyond extractions and need an oral surgeon. The problem is that they all want a pay as you go plan. Really and how do I do that if I am unemployed?..There is no dental Medicaid for my age group. And though I am currently seeking employment I can honestly say that days have I missed from my previous job were due to my teeth causing me health issues. I have been trying to jump through hoops to get help with this and I feel like its all about money. Last year an er doctor even wrote in my follow up paperwork that I can and will die from the abscesses I have if I do not get into an oral surgeon. Do oral surgeons not follow the same guidelines as doctors when it comes to helping people?...I would think they would want to save people not stand at the door and slam it in your face if you don't have cash even if it is life threatening..I am going to die from heart disease oe something from this crap all because I am..poor. Also it is almost a year later and I still have infections in my mouth I am tired of going to er's and clinics for antibiotics and they are tired of seeing me. If I had a dime for every time they told me to get to an oral surgeon I would be rich and have dentures by now.
--------------------
KIM, I EMPATHIZE WITH YOUR SITUATION. FOR SEVERAL DENTAL PATIENTS THE WISEST AND MOST BENEFICIAL CHOICE IS TO EXTRACT ALL AND HAVE BEAUTIFUL DENTURES. UNLIKE MEDICAL, DENTAL IS NOT IMMEDIATELY LIFE-THREATENING, SO THERE ARE NO DENTAL ER TO VISIT. DENTISTS DO OFFER EMERGENCY TREATMENT ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS, BUT A THROUGH PLAN MUST BE DISCUSSED AT THE BEGINNING AND YOU MUST BE THE BOSS OF YOUR OWN MOUTH AND CONSIDER THE OUTCOME OF WHAT YOU DECIDE IN 5, 10, OR MORE YEARS. I SENSE YOUR ANGER AND DISAPPOINTMENT WITH DENTISTRY. PLEASE BE EMPHATIC WITH ASKING THE DENTIST FOR WHAT YOU WANT. TEETH ARE VERY NICE TO HAVE WHEN HEALTHY, BUT THEY AREN'T REQUIRED FOR LIFE. CONSIDER DENTURES.

Tingling sensation in one tooth. Is it a cavity or just simply sensitive teeth.?

I have a filling in that tooth and it's been feeling funny lately. I don't have dental insurance and don't want to spend money. Does anyone know what it is? Thanks!
--------------------
The answer is simple: go to your dentist to get an x-ray. That is one way to tell. Is your filling the "silver" filling and how long have you had it? The other way is still to go to your dentist and have him/her to do a sensitivity test on it. Other than that I suggest that you use Synsodyne toothpaste or if you're money strapped, then go to the dollar store and they have some sensitive toothpaste there. Good luck because your teeth are nothing to play with. It will cost you less money, if it's a cavity, to get it done now than to wait and do it.

I'm a 24 yr old female, and I am looking for health insurance.?

I'm single and I don't have any kids, so I just need something to cover the basics like medical and dental and at a somewhat decent price. What do you suggest? Which health insurance provider do you use? What do you like or not like about them?
--------------------
The basics, with a low deductible, no dental and no vision, are going to run you around $250 a month. I haven't seen a private dental or vision policy that pays out more than it costs. I'd suggest you get quotes from a local, independent agent who can help you weigh coverages, deductibles, and cost. Buying off the internet is a great way to get scammed.

does target offer health insurance to employees?

i am thinking about applying at target's pharmacy and would like to know if anyone has worked full time there or been offered a job there full time, and knows if they have health insurance and knows if it's any good. i have 2 kids and myself and i need the whole deal- medical, vision, and dental, and not at the price of half my paycheck. i need to get off medicaid and foodstamps, but not at the cost of my children and my grades at school.

Yes, they have health insurance. However, it isn't free. My wife worked for Target at one time, but we didn't buy the health insurance, so I'm not big into the details.

how to tell how much a dental procedure will cost with 2 insurances?

Last year I got a root canal at a dentist and they were able to tell me how much it would approximately cost after running it through both of my insurances. Now I moved to a different city and went to the dentist and was told I need a root canal and some other dental work. I asked if they could run it through my insurances to find out the estimation and the secretary seemed really busy and told me to call myself because insurances sometimes do not share that information with providers. I am stressed because I don't know how to talk to my insurance about dental procedures. Is there a way for dentist offices to find out an estimated price using two insurances? Also I have noticed prices for root canals range from $612 to $780 and was wondering if they are all about the same price after running it through the insurance? The "before" insurance price on this dental work is $2,500 and I would love to know the "after" using two insurances price before going in. Is it normal for dental offices to tell patients themselves to call to get an estimate? or are they suppose to find out for the patient?
--------------------
The dental office should either have all the information on their computer, especially if they deal often with the insurance company. Other wise they should have the contact phone numbers to call and get the information. And lastly if the insurance company has questions and needs to see any x-rays or have the paper work for a pre authorization, the dental office can provide them with it. It is a responsibility for the dental office and not for the patient to have to assume. If they refuse to provide this service for you, I would switch to another office. Good luck.

I need to find dental care in portland oregon?

Hi, i'm an unemployed student in portland and i want to get a few cavities filled. I don't have any insurance. Does anyone know the best way to go about getting financial assistance for this?

Why isn't dental coverage considered a right by the caring democrats in Congress?

Since they want to mandate that I purchase my rights why doesn't that include dental insurance?
--------------------
Absolutely, if they are going to force rationed health care down our throats and fine & jail us if we don't pay- I want it all! There has been plenty of Research to link bad teeth resulting in medical disease processes such as sepsis, diabetes and Chronic hypertension. Yet, we all know this is not even about health care as much as it is about owning a very lucrative part of the American Economy- they want to own it all, we are just measly pawns in their game to be discarded.

how can a person get extensive dental work done if they are on medicaid, medicare and limited income?

Can they get private dental insurance and not lose those benefits?
--------------------
Married lady I would have loved to answer your question, but I do not have enough information, therefore I will speak in general terms. I need to know what state you live in, and what treatment you will require, and your age. over or under 21? I will speak generally. Medicare part-B has a blanket exclusion for dental services, unless they are being done as a result of an existing condition, or accident. i.e., if you needed jaw reconstruction after an accident, or reconstruction after cancer in the mouth. Most states offer dental coverage for all medicaid recipients. You would have to find a dentist who accepts Medicaid, and get an estimate for the services. Another option you may consider is the local county hospital often they have indigent healthcare programs which will pay the residual costs after Medicare and Medicaid. Another source is a dental school most dental schools have clinic days where they offer assistance to the public. You also have to option of purchasing private dental insurance or buying a Medicare Supplemental policy that offers dental care. If you buy a Dental policy, it will not affect your medicare benefits. However, it will affect your medicaid dental benefits, as both companies would work together and coordinate care and payment for your services. Good luck.

root canal needs to be redone in my molar tooth, but I have no dental insurance and just lost my job?

I did a root canal on one of my molars 2 years ago, everything was fine, but recently I have started to experience a pain when I drink something hot. My general dentists advised me to see a specialist, but I don't have money to do it. I started drinking antibiotics and pain and sensitivity went away for 3 months. Now the tooth hurts more, I can feel hot and cold water, and sometimes it hurts in the evenings too. I wonder if there is some good dental plan I can buy, that can help me to save money on health insurance in California, or maybe there is some dental insurance I can buy. I am from Ukraine, so I am thinking maybe i should buy a ticket home and fix my tooth there, however I am registered for classes in the university and I don't want to put my life on hold because of this trip. To cut a long story short, I just really need a good advice on what should I do. I want to save a tooth, and I am not even thinking about pulling it out so don't advice me that option please.
--------------------
If you are under 21, you can apply for Medi-Cal and Denti-Cal. http://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/medi-cal… "Drinking antibiotics" is bad for your body, and if you keep doing it, your body will build up an immunity to the antibiotics.

How long does it usually take for my insurance company to reimburse the dentist?

I had a root canal done last week that cost $916. I have dental insurance but the dentist wants me to pay now and then he said he'd sign the insurance check over to me once he receives it. I was just wondering how long it takes the insurance company to issue a check.
--------------------
It usually takes about 2-4 weeks after the claim is filed for the dental office to receive insurance payment. However, if the insurance requests additional information (ie. x-rays, narrative) from the dentist, it may take longer depending on the response time. You should receive a copy of the insurance explanation of benefits (EOB) a few days before the dentist receives their copy. You can also call your insurance to check on the status of the claim to know if its currently or already been processed. If the insurance tells you it's pending additional information from the dentist, you can call your dental office and let them know to hopefully expedite the process. Hope this helps.

Pre-existing condition / Diabetes for Group Health/Dental Insurance?

The last time I saw my doctor for my Type 2 diabetes in the U.S. was in August, 2003. I went overseas soon after that and didn't come back until recently (I didn't have coverage during this whole time). I just got a job which offers group health insurance, does my diabetes counts as pre-existing condition. (I'm choosing a BCBS PPO plan), and can they impose exclusion period? I live in Pennsylvania, and according to my research, Group health plans in PA can count as pre-existing conditions only those for which you actually received (or were recommended to receive) a diagnosis, treatment or medical advice within the 6 months immediately before you joined that plan. So it appears to be that I should have no problem if I go to see my doctor for my diabetes right after my policy become effective on Jan. 1st, 2008, right? I want to make sure. Similarly, I had dental surgery for gum problems in 2002, will my group dental plan look back 6 month only? Thanks for your answer
--------------------
If you have diabetes you've had "treatment" for the past 6 months, even if it was just diet to control your blood sugar. So yes, the insurance company will consider that a pre-existing condition. Also, if you have any type of health condition, even if you haven't had any treatment, it is still considered a pre-existing condition. However, it also depends upon the BCBS group plan. Group plans can be tailored in any way (unless it's contrary to state law) so the only way to know is to contact the insurance company or your company HR department.

HELP!! Emergency dental issue.. I cracked a front tooth right down the middle & no insurance!PLEASE HELP!?

Somebody please be my guardian angel here! any help at all is much appreciated.. i'm in tears and a sitting duck at this point.......... i'm a ft student, don't have dental insurance, and am supporting myself as best i can. My tooth right behind my canine, or maybe it is my canine (not sure) got a cavity right in the center of it and even with me caring for it daily has grown and grown to literally become what can only be described as a hollow tooth I guess. Well this morning while eating it finally cracked, of course the half that fell away was the front part of the tooth. Now it looks like i'm missing a tooth entirely. =* ( I don't have insurance, and barely have the money to get by day to day. I work and go to school full time. I'm hysterical and desperate... ANY advice, suggestions, ideas, ANYTHING anyone can offer is GREATLY appreciated. I'm only 24 and i'm lost on this one. Forget smiling, even when im just talking you can see it clear as day. =* ( I live in the greater los angeles area, can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm seriously desperate. Thank you for taking the time to read this, either way. please, ANYTHING!

Go to a local dentist and schedule an appt, they will tell you everything that is wrong or that you need to fix and you should be able to set up a payment plan. Make sure that the dentist that you pick sets up payment plans before scheduling the appt. Most dentists do, so you should not have a problem.

Was just offered a really fun job, but i'm giving up a good income. Should i take it?

I was just offered a job in an exciting and fun career. I would be using this as a stepping stone to a better position eventually. However for now I will be quitting a job making over 100k a year for this one that pays 25k a year. Keep in mind that I also lose my medical/dental insurance. This job would be perfect if there wasn't the short term cash flow loss. Any input or advice?
--------------------
Ya , think of all the fun you will have when you need a doctor or dentist ! The pain will be euphoric . You can build up a tuff guy image by doing your own surgical procedures . Not to mention , at $25K , you'll have your pick of slum housing and the 50 cent box of mac & cheese for dinner . Oh , wait , you can just do top ramen again forever . Plus , there is that SIgned and notarized contract for the better job later , ya . . . So what do you consider so fab , that you would take a $75,000 pay cut ? Just seeing if you are legit or just stirring the shiiiiiiiiiit . >

this was not a piece of tooth. it was a piece of bone. sometimes when the wisdom teeth are moving through the bone, you will get little bone shards. this is perfectly normal and nothing that you need to see a dentist about.

What do you do if you don't have health insurance?

I need to have some dental surgeries done and I don't have the money to pay for them. My wisdom teeth are growing in and pushing my other teeth out of the way. It is very painful and ruining my teeth. How do you pay for something like this if you are a 21 year old college student with no money and no parents?
--------------------
Health Insurance CAN pay for wisdom teeth to come out, but it depends on the circumstances. I just had a client with Aetna pay to get them out. However, you don't have health insurance so it's too late for you. You need to pay out of pocket. You can also contact a dental school to see if you can get it on the cheap. When it's done go get some health insurance. It's not expensive and it's not nearly as expensive as needing it and not having it.

How much does a custom made mouthgaurd cost? My doctor recommended I get one because of my tension headaches.?

Or would an over the counter mouthguard work just as well? If the don't then, can anyone please tell me how much a custom made mouthgaurd costs for someone that doesn't have any dental insurance (I've got regular health insurance, but didn't add on the dental part. DOH!!)? By the way I'm in the U.S. so could you please let me know the price in U.S. dollars?
--------------------
It depends on how it's made and whether the dentist has a lab in his office. If it's too expensive, check to see if there is a dental assisting school near you. Most community colleges have dental assisting programs and if you have a Vatterott near you, depending on the campus, they offer the program too. One thing that assisting students have to do is make night guards. Call and ask if they want any volunteers. They are usually looking for patients and will gladly have you come in. They are usually made in the advanced materials class.

Is this normal pricing for dental work?

I don't have insurance but it seems a little outrageous tell me if you think its a right price $2600 for a root canal , two fillings, and a tooth extraction. and the xrays were $300 dollars.
--------------------
If the root canal is on a back tooth it will be more expensive than if it was on a front tooth. The cost of the fillings will also depend on a couple of things. How large will they be and what type of filling material will they be. And the extraction will also depend on what the roots look like and if the tooth can be gotten out in one piece or if it will have to be removed in several parts. Also it depends on what part of the country you live in. You didn't mention anything about the price including a crown. I can say that $300 for the x-rays sounds on the high side. Hope this helps a little but without seeing the specifics it is hard to tell for sure.

I NEED a lot of dental work done but, can't afford it. Is there a way to fix my teeth without breaking my pock?

I am in a price bracket where I make too much to receive medi cal but not enough to afford medical insurance. Ugh! I am ashamed to smile any more. I would be so extremely grateful to get my smile back!
--------------------
i would call your local medical assistance office and ask for "sliding fee dentist". the fee of a filling or crown is dependent on your income. You'll need paystubs to qualify. the filling will be more than welfare but less than a dentist that takes insurance. Second option is to go to the dentist that you like and talk about payment plans like "Care Credit". Depending on your credit score, you may qualify for a credit line with 0% interest for 6 months to a year. Also, many dentists have discounts for paying in full up front. Lastly, i would try a dental school if you are looking for high end procedures like veneers and implants. But keep in mind that not everyone lives next to a dental school and that you may not spend a lot of money, you will spend a lot of time at their clinic and there is most likely a long wait list. good luck.

Well I don't know where you live, but it may help to look into University programs in your area. For example, where I live, Nova Southeaster University provides dental care for people (on a sliding scale--nothing's free per se). They are a dental program with student dentists or interns that are supervised by "real" dentists. Maybe find out what Universities near you have a dental Program and go from there. It's worth a shot. Take Care.

--------------------
I'm a dentist. Getting work done at a dental school is a double-edged sword. While the care you receive is of good quality, it takes place so slowly and with so much red tape that I consider it to be borderline abusive. You have to remember that you are being treated by a student, who is in-turn being supervised by an attending dentist who is charged with the responsibility of supervising the work of multiple students. As such, the attending doctor must examine the work of every student and approve each phase of the work done that appointment. For example, if you are having a filling done, the attending doctor must first give the student the OK to begin work. Then, after the student has drilled on your tooth, the attending doctor must approve it. He/she may want the student to make changes (i.e. drill a little more here or there, etc.), and these changes usually have to be approved. Once the attending approves the drill work, he/she allows the student to place the filling. Once the filling has been placed, the attending must approve that as well. Keep in mind that all of this approval requires the attending to sit down next to the patient and examine with his/her own eyes the student's work. And keep in mind that the attending must do this for multiple students. As you can see, this requires a lot of waiting. Hence, it is uncommon for you to have more than two fillings performed in a three-hour appointment when you are being treated in a dental school. In dental school, I was lightening fast--faster than most of my classmates, and it was a rarity when I could complete three fillings in a three-hour appointment slot. In private practice, it rarely takes me more than 45 minutes to complete three fillings. And remember, these are just fillings we're talking about. Just imagine how time-consuming it would be to have root canals and crown/bridge and dentures done! In private practice, crowns are typically completed in two 1-hour appointments. In dental school, it's almost always three 3-hour appointments. So, if you have lots of time to kill and plenty of patience, then by all means, have your work done at a school. Otherwise, you're better off just biting the bullet and going to a doctor in private practice.

Does anyone know the dental procedure codes for a porcelain crown and porcelain veneer?

I am trying to find out if my insurance will cover porceilain crowns and veneers, but I have to know what the codes are.
--------------------
A full coverage porcelain crown is code D2740. A labial veneer- laboratory covers only the outside and cutting edge of the tooth, code D2962 Edited to add: if the veneer or crown are done for purely cosmetic reasons, you insurance likely will not pay at all.

Where are the Free Dental Clinics in Arkansas?

My insurance will not pay for me to have my wisdom teeth removed. I can not afford to pay for surgery on my salary.
--------------------
Contact your local or state dental association and and see if there are any dentists who provide free or reduced cost care for low-income, disabled or senior patients. Call your local health department and ask about health centers that provide dental care for free or on a sliding scale. Go to a dental school, if there is one near you, for reduced costs. Check http://www.toothwoman.net to see if low-cost or free dental services are available near you. Check http://bphc.hrsa.gov and choose "Find a Health Center" to see if there is a low-cost clinic near you. Check http://www.nfdh.org/DDS.html to see if your state has a "Donated Dental Services" program. D.D.S. is designed to locate dentists who will give free care to patients who are financially compromised due to medical problems. Not all states have D.D.S. programs.

I am 27 years old and I my teeth/mouth is showing signs and symptoms of gum disease.?

I have no dental insurance and I have an appointment to see a Dentist next week. The one reason I am going to the dentist is because he is offering a free day. What are the forms of treatment to cure this? Am I going to be wearing dentures at the age of 27? Should I go to Mexico for cheap dental work?
--------------------
You may need a procedure that is called scaling and root planing. That is when they take their instruments and remove all the infected tissues and calculus that is on your teeth under your gums. It can be very expensive (but well worth the cost) and you may need it done a couple of times. I PROMISE you, the last thing you want is dentures!!!!!!!!!! If you can't afford it at the dental office, try to find a dental school or hygiene school and get it done. If that is what you need and don't get it done, you have a high probability that you will end up in dentures.

What are some benefits of the career of journalism?

Benefits like health benefits ( insurance - dental, medical ) , schedule, stock options, vacation time?
--------------------
benefits: - you get an indepth look at the news first - you get to take home a free paper - people offer you stuff if only you spill about the anonymous items. all the other factors you are asking about are in the wind except for people with contracts - either individual or guild - and in this climate are about to come apart. you are looking at not a recession or depression here, you are looking at a PARADIGM SHIFT. that means, forget as it was, it is going to be substantially different. and if you are thinking about a career in journalism i would tell you what i would tell anyone who has asked your question over the years - get a different job. if you are asking about benefits etc you are not cut out for this line of work. if you ask about how far an editor would let you pursue a story - well, that's a different matter altogether.

What can I do for a painfull tooth?

I dont have dental insurance and a tooth with a hole in it cause by a cavity. Is there anything other than an dental visit I can do? Please help it hurts and I do not have the money to go to the dentist.

One quick remedy is to get some warm water and put salt (real salty) in it the water and gargle it (around the tooth that hurts). The pain should dull a little until you can get to the dentist. Just do this everytime you feel pain.

Anyone have trouble with grinding your teeth?

If so, have you found a way to stop? I do it unconsciously during the day only sometimes but mostly at night and I don't even notice it. It causes lots of pain sometimes but I'm not sure how to make myself stop... any ideas? I've tried mouth guards, they are uncomfortable and I usually take them out, but if that's the only option, I guess I'll have to get over it and keep it in. Also, I don't have health insurance until September, so I'm looking for a temporary solution until I get my dental insurance back.

Can anyone recommend a good dentist in the Indianapolis area?

Looking for a new dentist in the Indianapolis area...preferably on the south, southeast or east side. Two criteria for starters...that he/she works with Delta Dental Insurance and the office does whitening trays. It's okay if you don't know if they work with Delta Dental or not. I can look that up. Can I use my health insurance straight away?

I am only interested in the Basics extras cover which covers general dental. It says on this particular cover that there is no waiting period, I have to get fillings on Monday so if I join today does that mean I can claim for Monday?
--------------------
Im not sure but as far as I know here in Ireland there is a six month period. Basically when we sign up, we are not actually covered for 6 months. So we cannot sign up and claim straight away. Maybe someone can clarify or confirm this. Your best bet would be to call and check, without giving away specifics.

Should I elect to get my wisdom teeth pulled? Will my teeth shift or my gums shrink?

When i was a teen I had bad crowding and had 4 teeth pulled in order to have braces. During college, my bottom left wisdom tooth (they've all grown out) got a bad cavity, and since i was a broke student, I decided to just get it pulled out rather than spend a fortune on a root canal. Now i'm working full time and have good dental insurance. When i went in for a checkup, my dentist pointed out that my top left wisdom tooth had grown out further than the rest b/c the bottom one had been extracted and there is space. My top right wisdom tooth on the other hand sticks out a bit, causing me to accidentally bite my cheek from time to time. I was referred to an Orthodontist and advised to have both these upper wisdom teeth pulled to prevent future problems. My bottom right wisdom tooth is fine and doesn't need to be pulled. While I trust the dentist's advice, I'm apprehensive of having 2 more permanent teeth pulled, making a total of 7! I don't experience any pain of discomfort.
--------------------
Press your dentist for an alternative. If you are not happy with his advice go to a different dentist. Your gum will shrink and the shape of your face will be different. Avoid extraction wherever possible. But if a tooth gives persistent problems root canal treatments are not always a success and can give persistent problems. Perhaps try several more dentists for advice. It is you have to live with your teeth not the dentist. I have lost 3 of the 4 teeth before the wisdom teeth. If I had my wisdom teeth pulled I would be without any back teeth. Wisdom teeth can be an insurance against losing other teeth

What can I do to keep my mouth healthy?

I am one of the millions of people who are living life uninsured. I do not have dental insurance, and I have not been able to go to the dentist in about 5yrs. I can tell that I already have cavities...but I could never afford to go in and get them taken care of. I wanna know what I can do to keep my mouth and teeth healthy, besides the usual brush and floss, and mouth wash.
--------------------
1) Drink plenty of water or get a fluoride rinse. I wouldn't do both unless prescribed to do so. This only helps the enamel regenerate. It helps prevent cavities, not remove them. 2) Chew gum with xylitol (sp). 3) Go to the dentist ASAP. A cavity can be filled and cost $200. You can get a root canal if you don't catch a cavity in time and cost you more than $1500. A lost tooth due to a decay and can be replaced can cost more than $4000. If cost is an issue, you can get "health cards", which are credit cards for health issues (like dental). https://www.citicards.com/cards/portal/h… is an example. You can also go to dental school for cheaper rates. Don' worry, the students are monitored. You may be there longer, but it's cheaper.

However for now I will be quitting a job making over 100k a year for this one that pays 25k a year. Keep in mind that I also lose my medical/dental insurance. This job would be perfect if there wasn't the short term cash flow loss. Any input or advice?

Plus , there is that SIgned and notarized contract for the better job later , ya . . . So what do you consider so fab , that you would take a $75,000 pay cut ?

I got kicked off of welfare and the my dentist told me to get my dental work on his credit plan?

I made too much money so i lost my goverment cheese which included dental coverage. So I ask my dentist about getting my own dental insurance and he tries to sell me a credit line for my dental work. Im not sure what to do. The intrest rate sucks unless you do an 18 month credit plan and I cant affford those payments . Im looking at about $150 a month if I do that. Ive never bought dental insurance before so Im clueless . Wouldn't getting insurance be better? How can I find a good insurance?
--------------------
Those dental credit lines are a rip off as you can see. Think hard and long about them before you sign. Your problem is that if you have been on welfare you probably have no credit history. If I were you I would either buy my own policy or look into a clinic that is run by the dental school in my area.

Estimate needed for dental work, California (apx. amount)?

I just had a lot of dental work done and am wondering if I paid too much. Was wondering what the work should have cost, then I will let you know what I paid. This is without dental insurance or a dental plan. First, an oral surgeon put me to sleep and pulled 7 teeth, all on the bottom, 2 wisdom teeth, 4 molars, 1 regular tooth, put bone graft in the socket holes. A general dentist did root canals on 3 upper teeth, none of which were molars, then put 11 crowns on all upper teeth. 6 of the crowns are Captek which is a high quality gold crown with porcelain on the outside, these 6 are on the front teeth. The other 5 crowns are regular metal crowns with porcelain on the outside, 3 which are molars, 2 regular teeth. I'm supposed to go back and have a partial denture made for the lower arch, for both the left and right side, but if I feel I am being overcharged, I may go somewhere else.
--------------------
I got to be honest. I can't even imagine what you paid. I know I had a crown replaced, some gum work around that crown, Invisalign, and then a new permanent crown. And that ran me in the thousands. I know my dad, who never took good care of his teeth, had them basically all yanked out and had dentures put in, he had a dentist friend do it for him and it was about $5000. If you're dealing with an oral surgeon, yanking teeth, wisdom teeth, bone graft, and 11 crowns. I'm guessing the crowns alone are about $7000. All told, and this is a wild guess, maybe at least $25,000. Unless you got a real good deal. I'm curious what you did pay. Let us know.

Help dental assistants/dentists,i had 3 months of pain in back tooth, has the infection spread is this dangerus?

Hello,i have had pain in my back molar for nearly three months now,it started when i ate anything i got vicious pain,so i chewed food on the other side, and took painkillers,i didn't go to the dentist straight away as i have no dental insurance, now last week it got very bad,i went to a dental hospital and they took xrays and i said i have a abscess, and that they could not do a root canal as its students and it is to complicated on a back tooth for some reason. Now i am worried in all that time i left it the abscess could have spread i have pain in my head and cheek and ear. So i went to my reg.dentist and she said it can have a high failure rate as reg.dentists dont have specialized equipment but they can do something called a 'PRIMARY endo' to relieve pain, until i can get the money together to see a specialist which might take 4 to six more weeks,is this safe?? She said a specialist uses hot liquid rubber filling solution to reduce risk of bacterial infection, and they use cold rubber filling solution and its difficult to clean the bacteria from the small root canals and likely to become reinfected as the awkward position of the tooth. In your opinion what should i do,should i do this primary endo and wait 4 to six weeks to save up for the specialist, could the infection get worse?or not do it and stick it out until i can getthe money together,i am just scared the infection could get out of control, any warning signs i should look out for?The reason i dont want it pulled is that i have 2 teeth next to it missing already and this tooth has a crown which was expensive,it is a heavily filled tooth underneath the crowm, but its not due to decay that caused the abscess they said, please any advice i would appreciate so much i am very scared and would like some information thank you very much

I dont have dental insurance and I have a toothache from hell. It will be another 2 weeks before I can come up with the cash to see a dentist. What can I do to get by?
--------------------
Hello, your best bet is to check and see which of your local hospitals has a dental internship program...When you find one go there as they routinely provide dental services on an out-patient basis and the fees are from free to very low. If you don't find one and there is a Dental College near you, contact the colleges "Out Patient Clinic"...they too provide free to low fees for out patient services....As for the pain management, your obviously looking for something other than an over the counter medication...that means you will have to call your DDS and see if he or she will give you an RX for something stronger. Good luck and I wish you well.

Very important question regarding faulty dental work?

To make a long story short, I went to the dentist because I was in pain. X-rays were taken and showed that the dentist that did the root canal on my paining tooth approximately 3 years ago had left part of an instrument in the canal. This was causing the pain and an infection. The original work was covered by insurance but presently, I am uninsured. What should I do? Go to the original dentist to see if something could be worked out amicably? Settle this matter in court? Or a combination of both? If you have any other suggestions or similar stories, I'm all ears! I'm very hurt and worried and devastated to have seen this strange thing floating in my tooth! I need an outside (hopefully rational!) suggestion! Thank you in advance!
--------------------
files being left in canals, is something that can happen to anyone, as the files are so thin there is a risk in every root canal treatment that a `´file fracture`´ will incur, it does not happen often but it can happen and is not the fault of the dentist, its JUST one of those annoying things in life, taking the dentist to court will get u no where, the risks of root canal should of been explaned to u though and u should of been informed at the time it happened... the only solution is to see a endodontic specalist or have an extraction,, The endo specalist has better equipment and theres a chance he maybe able to remove it and do a proper RCT for u, but that does not come cheap i am afaird, good luck to you

Can dentist send me bills half a year later claiming my insurance didn't cover all costs?

I had some dental work done and paid off all balances right at the dentist office. The staement showed a balance of $0. I just received a bill from the dentist, six month after that work was done, claiming that I owe them money, and that the bill is past due. Even though this is the first letter I received from them! I moved out of state 2 months ago and also changed insurance since I have a new employer. Can they still come after me?
--------------------
Why would you NOT owe the money? You have your original bill or EOB, I hope, and you can simply look at the amount charged and compare it to the amount paid. Do the math and that's what you owe. IF, on the other hand, you were participating in an HMO type thing where the dentist is required to accept only the insurance payment as payment in full (and you would know this if you read your benefit booklet or called your insurance carrier), then you should not owe anything outside of any deductible or prescribed co-pay. Of course, is this is the first bill they sent you, it's kind of tacky to say that it's past due already. Unless they sent 2 or 3 bills to your old address and they were not forwarded and it took them until now to track you down...

It's sounds as if you are younger. If that is the case and you are fairly healthy then you shouldn't have any trouble at all finding a good health insurance plan for under $100/month. The key is that you want to choose a well known and dependable company like a United Healthcare, Aetna, Blue Cross, etc. Compare quotes from at least 3 different companies to find the best deal for your specific situation. Here is some more information on finding affordable health insurance:

Why are health care, dental care, and vision considered "separate"?

It's all body maintenance, right? Is there a legitimate reason, or is it just part of the health industry's, insurance bookies', and bosses' money scams in capitalist America? .
--------------------
In the UK when the NHS was formed in 1948 - ALL health care, including dentistry and optometry was free of charge and paid for through central taxation. Anuerin Bevan, a left-wing Labour politician had the idea from a system - the Tredegar Medical Aid Society - in his constituency in Wales, where the community clubbed together to pay for healthcare for all - he extended this idea across the whole country (source1). The landslide Labour government of 1945 was forced into concessions because of massive pressure from below - people were demanding "a land fit for heroes" - so a large section of industry and healthcare was nationalised. In the present, if we want to hold on to our NHS in the UK, we need to fight for it, as New Labour and the Tories are both threatening to privatise it. In the US, there was not been the same pressure from below to create a socialist ideal of universal health care, so this was never achieved. Obama's reforms simply amount to getting people to subscribe to private healthcare insurance, so this is not public, universal healthcare, much less socialism. Yes, this is a cpaitalist scam. Private healthcare should be abolished.

Anybody have a similar pay and wouldn't mind saying it, and maybe mentioning how much of their check is going to medical and dental? My insurance premiums here are way way higher than at my last job too, so I just want to know about what I'll be bringing home after all that.
--------------------
Income taxes are not a flat percentage. In order to determine the net paycheck, some information is needed: 1. gross pay 2. payment frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly) 3. Marital status (single? married?) 4. Are you a dependent (a student under the age of 24 is presume to be a dependent of his or her parents.) 5. number of dependents 6. amount of pre-tax deductions from your paycheck (medical insurance, 401K, Flexible spending account for transit, medical expenses, etc.) 7. Where you work (there are 45 states with income taxes, plus in five of them there are local taxes) 8. Where you live (some states have reciprocity agreements with others so, for example, if you live in Pennsylvania but work in New Jersey, you have PA taxes withheld.) Once you have all of the information, you can go to Paycheck City's site at http://www.paycheckcity.com/cointuitonli… I hope this helps. Gary

My dentist just sold his office to a new Dentist, I just found out the hard way hes not in PDP 4 insurance!?

My dentist sold his entire office and practice to a new dentist about 4 months ago. I had seen the new dentist twice since then. I just got a $300.00 bill that should have been only $40.00 or so. Turns out the new dentist does not accept my dental insurance and is not in my preferred dental provider network. I'm really worried because my parents were going to this same dentist and had 1000's of dollars worth of work done in the last few months, I just warned them of this and they will look into it tomorrow. But what rights do we have as it is right now, shouldn't our new dentist have told this when we started seeing him? I'm extremely pissed as you can imagine. I had been seeing my old dentist for about 5 years. Does anyone happen to know what rights I have and my parents who could be out a lot more money?
--------------------
Where do you live? The laws on these matters vary from state to state. You could look into the "State Dental Board" (every state has some body that regulates licenses for medical professionals). A good option may be to try to negotiate with the new dentist since you were expecting to pay less and he didn't inform you. If you don't mind "playing hardball" you could always tell them you absolutely won't pay the full amount. Collection agencies can be annoying (especially if you care about your credit rating), but they often have little to no "real power", especially for small to mid size debts.

Can I get my dental work done soon?

For Wisconsin resident question: I live in the Outagamie County in Wisconsin and in Green Bay and Appleton area, the dental clinics don't take MA (medical Assistance) card as an insurance coverage but I heard that Milwaukee does take MA. I was thinking that I like to have my dental work done by Denal Associates LTD. Does all clinics in Milwaukee area take MA? Do I have to be a resident for me to have dental work done?

What can I do? My mouth really hurts...I have a cavity but no insurance and no dentist.?

Hi, I'm a 20-year-old college student, working full-time, just trying to stay ahead of my bills. I don't have any extra money at the moment, in fact, I'm a little bit in debt. The right side of my mouth is doing pretty bad. I don't have dental insurance and I haven't been to the dentist in years. I'm also deathly afraid of needles, so I'm not too keen about going. My gums are swollen on that side, and I'm pretty sure I have a bad cavity on one of my molars -- it's a little hole and it REALLY hurts when something gets inside it. I can't stand the pain. It's to the point where all I do now is drink water and eat Jell-O. Oh, and to top it off, I have a wisdom tooth coming in back there -- but it's coming in sideways. So that's probably going to have to get pulled. I know I can't afford even half of what I need to get done. Are there any at-home tips anyone has? Please. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
--------------------
I think you're going to need to make an appointment and deal with this. Dental problems can quickly spiral out of control. The problems can spread to other teeth or even to other parts of your body. It's better to take on more debt now than lose your teeth and have to pay thousands per tooth for replacements. Does you school have a dental plan? Is there a dental school nearby? You can call and ask about reduced rates. I honestly think you need to take care of this now. It'll be tough to get a job using your college degree if your teeth are visibly missing or rotting out (and it sounds like you're on your way to this sad future).

Since the fee for a discount plan is not technically an insurance premium, does that mean I can use my HSA funds to pay for it? Or is it still considered an HSA unqualified expense?

Technically they should not have an objection but still you should check out with your employer and HSA administrator.

Student or professor or who have information about cheap work for dental work in Oklahoma city.?

One of my sister front teeth chip off and it doesn't look attractive. She doesn't have health insurance so, I am looking for student or any who know where I can have it done cheap. Her Birthday is coming up this October 26 so, It would be a good gift for her and to see her smile comfortably. Any answer would be appreciated, thanks.

The University of Oklahoma School of Dentistry accepts patients and usually charges little to sometimes NOTHING for dental care and treatment. Here is the link...click "become a patient." http://dentistry.ouhsc.edu/ I am not from Oklahoma but was involved with treatment at a Dental School in my home state and care and treatment in school settings has to be top-notch and the students work under direct supervision of a Professor/Board Certified Dentist. I think this would be your sister's best option for cheap dental treatment.

Can I deduct the cost of dental veneers on my federal taxes ?

I am having a lot of dental work done this year. Since I will be getting a substantial bridge across my lower front teeth, I was thinking of getting my top teeth and lower canines veneered at the same time in "Hollywood" white and getting the bridge from the same lab in the same color. I have insurance, but if I get the veneers in addition to the work "needed", I will be out of pocket in excess of 7.5 % of my AGI. I will be well over this year's insurance deductible before I get to the bridge step of my treatment plan. Under what circumstances could I claim the deduction ? While my aim is the aesthetics, my dentist says that my bite would be improved as well. I understand that purely cosmetic procedures are ineligable. I'm just not sure where this situation fits in, or what kind of documentation I might need from my dentist to support the claim. Thanks ! me
--------------------
I don't think so. I'd love to have veneers done also but I was looking on Turbo Tax this year and it said asked the question about any dental out-of-pocket - said that veneers do not count.

Can you see a clinic dentist without filing, even if you have insurance?

Okay, maybe it's a silly question, but is it required to present your dental insurance if you have it? because I needed a crown and I go to a regular dentist; it was going to cost like $730 approximately, and I just can't do that all at once. There is, however, a really affordable clinic dentist I used to go to. Couldn't I just go there and not show them my BCBS? It'd be a whole lot cheaper, I'm sure, if I didn't file, but I just don't want to do something that I might pay for later. I am an HONEST person.
--------------------
HAVING BC-BS INS WON'T COST YOU A COPAY OF $750 JUST CALL AND ASK THE INS WHAT'S YOUR % USUALLY FOR THIS MAJOR FEE IT'S 50% OF THE TOTAL DENTIST'S BILL. IF YOU HAVEN'T USED THE INS THEN USE IT BEFORE THE YEAR ENDS. THIS IS CALLED MAXIMIZING THE BENEFITS

I may be getting my wisdom teeth in and I have no insurance HELP!!!?

I have good amount of pain (but not unbearbale, have been treating with anbesol and over the counter pain killers) in the bck on my mouth were the mollar meets the skin. The ooth itself doesnt hurt but there is a small noticble amount of sweeling and when i pull the skin u can partiially see some redness under the skin on top of the tooth... I am guessing tht this is due to my wisom teeth, Am I right? and if i am does anyone direct me tword the best way to take care of this because I am 19 and I have no dental insurance :(
--------------------
I started getting my wisdom teeth around age 16 & they didn't finally make it through until around 20. Every few months for 4 years I'd have pain for about a week or so. Like you I didn't have insurance either. After I got insurance I had them removed (even though they were through) for hygiene reasons (teeth are very hard to reach to brush & floss). My mouth is very small & I already had slight crowding on my bottom teeth. My top teeth were perfectly straight...until my wisdom teeth overlapped the front two. If I would've known that was going to happen, I would've put it on a credit card.

Will Kaiser cover my medicine from my dentist?

I just got onto a Kaiser Permanente insurance plan and I am needing to get an antibiotic and a pain reliever from my dentist for a severe abscess. I have Guardian dental insurance. Will Kaiser cover my prescriptions and if not, how can I get them cheaper?

If your prescription coverage is through Kaiser, then they will be the ones handling your prescriptions as long as they come from a licensed provider. It doesn't matter that he's a dentist.

Can a person survive on milk, fruit juice, water and mashed, ground food?

My grandma is 60 years old, weights 115 lbs who has no teeth and can't afford dental implant (she lives in a country where there isn't dental insurance). I am wondering can she survive on only milk, fruit juice, water and mashed potato with butter, chowder, or ground food.
--------------------
Sure. It's even possible to create a healthy diet which requires no chewing. (People with broken jaws wired shut do this all the time.) She'd probably benefit from owning a blender, grinder, or food processor which can turn any food into a liquid or semi-liquid. Stringy vegetables, whole cuts of meat, and such may need to be cooked to softness and pureed with some liquid to allow her to eat them without teeth. Her diet sounds short on protein, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates. Without these, her health will suffer. Consult the food pyramid to learn the proper nutritional balance for healthy eating.

I was on welfare when I got braces. Went to jail. No longer live in same state. No insurance. What to do?

I got braces when I was 17. The welfare insurance covered it. The insurance only covered me until I was 18, but the dentist was obligated to see me to the end. I was going to the dentist just about every month, everything was fine and dandy. I went to Jail for 9 months and when i got out left the state. I stupidly never went to the dentist or contacted them. I still have the braces on and im 20 with no dental insurance. I have not seen a dentist for for almost 2 years. I don't know what to or where to start. I hope i have not done damage to my teeth. Please advise!
--------------------
If there's no cover then there's no cover. You'll just have to pay for it. I don't imagine that getting braces taken off my a dentist would cost too much, a couple of hundred max, but I could be wrong. You need to get them off though - they can damage your teeth after several years (which is why the dentist will change them every 3-4 years or less) and your only option then is to get your teeth yanked out and use false teeth for the rest of your life... Call a dentist who does non obligatory quotes/meetings and find out what needs to happen, costs etc and go from there... Hope this helps, good luck!!

Do patients ever read the paperwork their dentist office gives them?

Along with the standard new patient paperwork (Personal info and medical history), we provide all our patients will certain financial policies or insurance information. The forms are written in normal everyday terminology, not dental or insurance terms, and actually go into detail to help patients understand how dental insurance works and how our office deals with dental insurance. I am really beginning to wonder if anyone actually reads these papers, because at least twice a day I have a new patient question me about something and I know that it was on the paperwork that we just gave them. They usually aren't asking for clarification, but are questioning things I say about their insurance, which I know were clearly explained in the paperwork we gave them to sign. I'm just curious, do people usually read the paperwork before they sign it or do they just skim over it and sign without knowing what it says?
--------------------
I've worked for an Endodotist and my brother who's a Cardiologist. And know what you mean. But I think it's a combo of other things as well. To some why read what you can ask. But to others they don't really understand the whole insurance thing. Or they either can't read or have trouble with reading and their to embrassed to say anything. So they just ask. What most think their to pay is different then what they pay. Example: When the insurance company say they will pay 80% of an exam doesn't mean the same we take it as. How they work it is this: Say you went to the doctors and the bill was $100. The insurance company will only pay 80% of what they think the bill should be. So if they think your exam should only cost $40 instead of $100 then they will pay 80% of $40. Not $100. Which is about $32. You are then left paying the difference unless you have a HMO insurance plan with a co-pay. Your co-pay is all you payreguardless of the bill amount. There are some procedures that may cost more and you may have to pay not just your co-pay but also a same amount of the difference. Like some Radiologist readings aren't always covered and they will bill you and you have to apy. There's alot of loop holes in the system and lots of physicans offices use them. Here's an example of that. Don't be surprise by this either. Medicare and Medicaid. Your on one of these. You go to the doctors. The bill is $100. Medicare/Medcaid decide the cost should have only been $40. So they pay the 80% of the $40 charged. Which they pay $32. Ok the office can charged you the difference between the full charge of $100 and the $40 they say it should be. Causing you to pay $60 for your visit. Yeah I know it sucks. People on these insurances don't know that can be charged the difference until they get a bill. How do I know this? Because when I worked for my brother his wife work for him too. She was a nurse and greedy as the word B*T*H. She went to a seminar on it and came back gimming that she could charge the difference. And she did. Their was nothing the patients could do. Can you believe that these old pepole on Medicare had to pay more money they didn't have cause of this? So if anyone has questions then they need to start calling their insurance company and ask every quetion until they understand everything. Or they need to go to their Human Resource Office and find out who handles the insurance and ask them. Find out if your on an HMO or a PPO plan or if you even have either one. There's still companys that you still pay 400+ a month for coverage and still have to pay a deductable. Like you may have to pay the first 1,000 buck before the insurance will even kick in for the year. Then if you have question start asking your employer or the insurance company themsleves. And start reading all the information. When people do this they can learn what they have and that there's a possiblity they might owe money before they have an exam of any kind. Understand what your insurance plan is and what they cover.

What is the average fee to get a tooth pulled without insurance?

It is not a wisdom tooth. It is a second molar tooth with a large cavity (I believe it had a filling before which ended up falling out). I've had excruciating tooth pain for the past few months but it's gotten worse over the past few weeks. I don't have dental insurance (the reason I've avoided the dentist) but I need to get this tooth pulled out. What is the average fee and usually you have to pay up front correct? Also, do they have to do x-rays first and how much does that cost?
--------------------
3500 dollars for the surgery. Depending on the x-rays.. sounds like about 1200 dollars.

bleeding swollen gums under 2 teeth after flossing?

I hadn't flossed in a long time so I flossed my teeth yesterday and then woke up this morning and the gums underneath 2 of my bottom teeth were swollen, red and bled a little after brushing my teeth, which sorta hurt a little. Could this swelling. Just be because I hadnt flossed in a while? Advice please. And I have no dental insurance so dont just say go to the dentist.. that won't help.
--------------------
DEFINITELY. Bleeding is a sign of inflammation and flossing is essential. Continue flossing daily and swelling will subside. When you flossed you disrupted bacterial biofilm and now your body is fighting with it-that's why swelling. You'll be fine-just floss daily.

Dental Problem?

Hi, I have severe pain with my wisdom teeth, its half broken and its half beneath the skin, I dont have a dental health insurance , can you please guide me what will be best suited to releive my pain and how much will it cost to remove it including all xrays and other costs ,( I live in Bloomfield, NJ )?
--------------------
Okay, first of all, you may have an infection. Wisdom teeth hurt as it is because, unfortunately, most adults don't have enough room in thier mouth for those 4 extra teeth.. So, naturally, they hurt when they are coming in. But if one of yours is broken and is poking through your skin, you are at risk for an infection (if you don't already have one) and should get this treated right away. As for the cost, you'll probably have to see a specialist. I'm not familiar with state average in your area, but I know here (in AZ) it's a couple hundred bucks per tooth to remove wisdom teeth... The more impacted (embedded in your gums or under your gums) they are, the worse it's going to get price wise. I have a good dental plan that saved me quite a bit when I got my wisdoms pulled.. Luckilly I only had 3 to pull.. Check them out, they really helped me a lot and are GREAT for people who don't have any dental insurance... www.savondentalplan.com If you are in THAT much pain, you should take yourself to urgent care or to the ER. They could give you something to take away the pain.. Otherwise, make an appointment with a GENERAL DENTIST (not a specialist, they are more expensive) and have them check for infection and if there is any, they'll give you antibiotics and pain pills.. This isn't too expensive to do without insurance.. You'll just be going in for an exam and you'll have to pay for the medication... Then you can wait till you're on a plan to get them pulled...

Can I get a refund from a dentist for a crown that doesn't fit properly?

I live in NJ. In March 2006 I had a dentist crown one of my molars. Last week I went to a new dentist who took Xrays of my mouth. He found that the crowned tooth was in trouble because the crown my last dentist put on didn't fit the tooth properly. Now, in order to avoid decay (a root canal in the future) I need to have the crown replaced with one that fits. I don't have dental insurance so I paid for that crown with my Visa card. Do I have any recourse? Can I get the price of the crown refunded to me?
--------------------
From my experience, you probably wont be able to get a refund, but I think you should be able to get the dentist that did a bad job redo the tooth and all of the resulting problems. If he refuses to do it-you can always write or call the American Dentistry Board. Dentists have to follow their rules and they dont much like being reported. Good luck.

If dental care cost is a little over $1,000?

In Maryland, even with insurance my dental care estimate came out to be over $1,000 for something like periodental, deep scalding and up to 6 cavities. Should I go for a 2nd opinion or just settle with the 1st dentist? 1st dentist is a member of a group practice. Would it be more expensive to go to a private practioner in Maryland?
--------------------
Sorry, but that estimate does sound , well, average. I just had a dental bill of $950 and that was for one root canal in a tooth with only one canal! Besides, when it comes to dentistry, go with the doc that you are comfortable with working on your teeth.
