True or false question: The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) of 1985 requires employers to give employees, on termination of employment, the option of continuing their medical, optical, or dental insurance coverage for a period of two years. True/false?
--------------------
~~False, it isn't for that long and it's only required to offer if there are more than 20 employees.~~

how much would a professional mouth guard made by a dentist be without insurance?

Not interested in mouth guards that are sold in stores, only interested in the custom fit ones made by the dentist. Again this is for someone without dental insurance.

I have seen them range from $75 - $200.

I have SafeGuard, and I went to a couple of dentists that were unprofessional inside my plan. Is having dental insurance silly since there are no good dentists who accept insurance? Or should i keep looking? I need to find someone i can trust to do my crowns. With insurance it's around $1300, without it costs $2600.

I live in california and I need health insurance for both my son and me, where can I get coverage?

Does anyone know where I can get a great medical and dental insurance plan for myself and son? My new job doesn't offer any kind of insurance until one year of employment. In the mean time, I need insurance for the both of us. So is there any plan that I can pay out of pocket which covers everything. And how much does it normally cost and what would it cover???
--------------------
Use yellowpages.com to search for health insurance brokers in your area. A Broker represents multiple carriers and can help you sort through all the different insurance companies and plan options in your state. Don't call your auto and home agent they specialize in property and causality insurance. You need someone that specializes in health insurance. These areas of insurance even require separate licenses. I have seen plenty of dental plans that pay out more than they cost. For example for a dental plan that cost $32 per month you get two free cleanings per year and up to $1,500 in benefits for fillings and surgery. If you go to the dentist and have your teeth cleaned every 6 months you will come out ahead.

Health insurance/dental rut. please help....?

I recently been laid off from my employer so I no longer have health insurance. But a few months ago, I paid my dentist $600 for a full year of cleaning and examination while I had health insurance. I have an appointment with the dentist tomorrow and now the dental office is demanding that I pay $140 for the examination tommorrow(they found out I no longer have insurance). I explained to the receptionist that I simply can not afford that, so she reduced the cost to $40. I am confused, shouldn't they honor our prepaid plan? Is what they are doing legal? Can I get my money back for the unused portion?? Please help.
--------------------
Sounds like your dental office is willing to work with you on payment. $40 is not bad. But if you already paid bring in your receipt to clear this up. Without dental insurance you may want to look for alternatives. See connectingbenefits.com for a good dental plan.

Dental insurance or Dental plan? ?

I recently got a checkup and found that I need nearly $3000 in dental work. This includes removing 3 wisdom teeth and filling cavities. I was wondering if there is a way I can reduce the cost of the dental work. I have heard that dental plans do not work well, and I do not want to finance the 3000 either. Thanks for the answers in advance.

Trying to figure out dental insurance ? I have a 25.00 annual deductible and a 1500.00 annual maximun. What?

does that mean???
--------------------
An annual deductible is the amount that the patient (you) are responsible for paying, before your insurance kicks in. $1,500.00 annual maximum is the maximum amount your insurance will pay, per year for your dental expenses.

Where can I find inexpensive dental care in the Killeen, Texas area? Need work done, have very little money.?

I have no dental insurance, need to have some teeth pulled, including wisdom teeth. Hoping there is a Dental school nearby that offers free/low cost care.
--------------------
Call up a dentist and ask if he knows of a low cost or sliding scale clinic in the area. Sometimes dentists will donate work to low income people and there might be a free dental clinic that you can go to. If the first dentist doesn't know then try another one.

what programs are out there for dental help for a single mom that hasn't any insurance?

I have missing teeth and need them fixed. Can afford a whole lot.
--------------------
Some states have Assistance programs (Medicaid-type) that help those unable to buy traditional insurance. Try your local human services office. Also, many communities have health centers- many of which also provide dental care. Check out this website, enter your state and town and go from there. http://ask.hrsa.gov/pc/ Good luck!

Is their any dental schools out there that is willing to pull teeth and replace with?

dentures and little to no cost. I lost my job and insurance. Even when I had dental insurance the last dentist I seen said all my teeth need to come out and replaced with dentures but even with the insurance I could not afford the cost above what the insurance would of paid.
--------------------
No cost might be an issue, but I'm sure there should be a significantly reduced cost option. Good Luck

A good health insurance company offering individual health and dental coverage for self employed people?

I live in Florida.
--------------------
Hi, I think you should consider a BlueCross/BlueShield policy. Their rates are very good right now if you don't have any pre-existing conditions. You can also add a dental policy. Aetna and Humana can be very good also, but I think your best bet at the moment is BCBS. If you want to sent me a quick e-mail with your birth date, I'd be glad to return a quote by e-mail from all three companies so you can compare, and then I'll show you how to find an agent in your area online. warren@iccf.us
