what independant dental insurance company should i get with my circumstances?

im self employed and have not had dental insurance for 10 years. im ready to purchase some becuase i know i need some work done. nothing too extreme but enough that i know it might be expensive. i dont even know where to look or who offers independent insurance that has little to no waiting period with good coverage. anyone have a good indie dental plan? if it helps i am located in ohio.

Long story short--it is almost never worth it to purchase dental insurance as an individual. Without getting technical, it works worse than medical insurance, because you are attempting to insure against an expected expense, not something unexpected. Dental insurance generally only makes sense when an employer purchases it for a group. And don't be taken in by dental "discount plans" that are really not insurance--most feature unsupportable fees, and there is a strong temptation for participating dentists to "bait and switch" you into other services.
