I just reviewed my new dental insurance and I have a choice of silver or composite fillings, which one is best?

They are the two covered at 100%.
--------------------
You would be getting a better payment from the insurance company for composite fillings if they pay 100%. They are usually 2-3 times more than silver. The trend is away from silver fillings and into composites. They look better, and offer the tooth more strength when the bond together. That said, they may not last as long as silver because their physical strength is not as great. Also they can be very technique sensitive, and as a result ,they are often temperature sensitive for a while after they are placed. But if the fillings are medium or small, I would opt for the composite fillings. By the way, the danger from the metal fillings is very highly exaggerated .
