question about health and dental insurance?

i need major oral surgery.will my medical insurance cover the surgery or should i file under my dental or file for both...

You have to file your claim with your dental insurance, as health insurance have exclusions for dental procedures. Before you do, check your dental insurance policy to make sure that they cover the surgery. With a lot of carriers, there are different levels of coverage. They'll pay for check ups, cleanings, and x-rays; but that's it. If you opted for the higher level of coverage (that covers fillings, extractions, etc), you will still need to check your coverage limits because there is probably a dollar limit per year that they will pay. A fair warning though, your dentist/oral surgeon's office should file the insurance claims and do that leg work for you, if they won't then beware. If the office staff is lazy and unwilling to do their job, that attitude might be shared by those performing your surgery. Good luck and take care.
