Nearly all dental plans advertised on the Internet are discount plans, not insurance. Even with a discount plan, a wisdom tooth extraction will still cost several hundred dollars. If you need actual insurance, be very careful to select an insurance policy, not a discount plan. Anything described as an "insurance alternative" or a "discount plan" is not insurance. Most things described as dental plan" are also discount plans, not insurance.
