Can you get dental insurance if you already have cavities?

I have probably 6 or 7 cavities. Do you have to go for a check up or something before you can get insurance?

I don't think there is a checkup before you get insurance...but there is usually a waiting period of sometimes up to 6 months to 1 year for some services to kick in. For instance, if it's insurance through your job, it may kick in 6 months after your initial enrollment period...but may not pay for certain services until 1 year after the enrollment period. You'd have to lie on the survey/enrollment form (saying you had no existing conditions) and then wait a while after the insurance kicks in (say, a month or two, if possible) to not look suspicious.
