Which offers better coverage, dental insurance or dental discount plans?

I also need vision coverage...Thanks in advance!
--------------------
You get what you pay for! The basic difference between insurance and discount plans is the amount of coverage you get and where you can have the procedures done. There are 2 kinds of insurance. One, you get to choose the doctor (this usually nets in a higher premium) The other you must see doctors in their plan or have a referral to see a specialists. Traditionally you will get higher quality services from doctors that don't work for one of these discount groups because they work for themselves and don't have some corporate knot head telling them what to do. The big discount groups attract doctors just out of school without much experience, doctors that tried and failed in private practice, or doctors that aren't interested enough in growing and managing a practice and want some one else to do it for them. Premiums are considerably different with these plans. If finances restrict you from choosing a higher quality insurance plan, common sense says choose the discount plan. Getting some kind of care is better than none at all. Before you make your choice, consider what your dental needs are. If they are extensive, do your homework and compare plans. If you need help, some offices out there will be happy to answer your questions. Vision coverage is the same thing as dental. With Vision coverage be careful to read the fine print. For example, the plan will limit the money paid for frames and you can pay the difference. The choices of frames that fall into the price range they cover are usually pathetic. My lenses are $450 without a frame! Your correction may be an expensive one like mine so buyer beware!
