Is it okay to have both? If not, which one is better? I'm getting a bunch of teeth pulled out for braces.

Both is good. Insurance has deductibles, claim forms and limits. But when you max out your benefits, you can use a Plan as a supplemental. They will cover, what the insurance didn't.
