I don't have dental insurance, and I am not sure if I should be selective based on prices, or if I should just assume that they all charge the same prices.

Yes there are definitely cheaper and more expensive ones. You should be very selective about prices, especially since you don't have insurance. Call the offices and ask for a cash price for whatever services you need. Some dentists will offer a discount for cash customers, so be sure to call around. If there is a dental school in your area, that would probably be the best bet. Other than cleanings, it's only the students who are about to graduate that do the work and they are usually much much cheaper than a regular dentist. The students are also supervised by instructors, so you don't have to worry that they don't know what they're doing. Good luck and best wishes!
