6yr old with cavity what to do?

My 6yr old stepson has a cavity and he is mentioning he is in some pain. We have shared custody, but his mom is not the greatest at sharing info and communicating well with us. We just learned he no longer has dental insurance. We don't have a lot of money these days & I'm wondering what we can do!
--------------------
which tooth is it? You can do the following, wait a while until it bothers him to the point that you really need to take him and in the mean time hope that it falls out before you have to get it filled, find an affordable dentist in your area (affordable dentist locations charge less than regular offices), ask dentists in your area if they have a repayment plan (generally requires a loan with a wells fargo company or similar that is set up as a charge account with the dentists office), take out a loan, shop around and go with the cheapest place, or get him on kids medicaid dental plan if they cover fillings and you qualify income wise It all just depends on which tooth and how bad its hurting him now. Oh, and sometimes pulling teeth is less than having them filled so ask about which is less, if its a baby tooth might be cheapier to just get it pulled? Good luck!
