Will someone explain medical and dental insurance to me?

ive never had either and wasnt raised to know all about them. I undersand that you pay each month for each... but what does it cover? Is there a limit or something? do you have to be paying a couple months before you can get something done? so curious and confused. Thank you so much.where do you get medical and dental??
--------------------
here's what insurance is- you paid a little each month so that if you have an accident, or need a doctor, the insurance covers it. not all companies are good though! some are cheating, lying bastards. some times there is a waiting period for coverage, sometimes not. insurance companies have what are called plans. these plans are like cell phone plans. you choose what you can be covered for, ei. self injury may or may not be covered. the company may only pay to a certain extent, or the company may even drop you the second you need them for no reason. it's almost impossible to answer this question fully on YA. isolate what coverage you thing you will need, and what you think you will be covered for. such as- high blood pressure runs in the family, so i have chosen better coverage in case of a heart attack than if i get shot (which probably won't happen). different companies charge different rates for plans and some have sneaky fees. look around on the net for "customer reviews" of insurance companies, the customers are honest, and don't trust a single provider for a second. btw, i have state farm auto, dental, and health insurance. they are low cost and nice folks. as a general rule, the better there commercial or the flashier the commercial, the worst the company. (geiko and esurance suck @$$) i'm sorry i couldn't help more
