if i dont have dental insurance can i still go to dentist?

i have a real bad infection in my gums can i go to any dentist and how much will it cost

You can still go to the dentist. Its probably going to be considered a deep cleaning (American Dental Association Code 4341). That procedure has a cost per quadrant, so when you ask the dentist for a price be sure to check if the price he quotes is for the whole thing or just for a quadrant. The price for that is usually $255 or less per quadrant. Now on options to make it affordable. Definitely call the dentist and see if they have some ways to make it cheaper. But another thing to check out will be something called a Discount Dental Plan. Those plans start right away, do not have a deductible (which means you dont have to pay a certain amount before on dental before the plan kicks in), and those plans are fairly inexpensive (some are just about $7 a month). Now they usually have a start up fee between 20-40 dollars, but again some of them can cut your costs significantly on that procedure right away. The best plan in my opinion is the one available at 1Dental.com. It cuts the price generally about in half if not more at a general dentist. I know for a fact that it does start immediately and they do have a monthly membership option for 7 dollars a month. If that one doesn't work though check out the Aetna Dental Access Plan. Its not as strong on the savings, but it does have quite a few dentists that take it. The only downside to those plans is that they dont have a payment plan for the procedure themselves already fixed in, so given your situation, i would find a dentist on one of those plans and ask them if they would accept the discount plan AND work out a payment plan for you on that procedure. I hope that helps. ***edit: i found this coupon online for aspen dental. http://www.aspendental.com/coupons/freee… It will get you a free exam and x-ray.
