How do I get Dental Insurance when I don't have a job?

My girlfriend was laid off from her job about months ago. She was only there for about 4 months. So she wasn't able to get health or dental while she was there because you had to work so long. (just crap job anyways) well now I want to get her some Dental Insurance because we need to get her teeth checked up. So where do I start on this? Is it really expensive? Do you make monthly payments or is it all up front. Thanks for all the answers Ben

Hi there, I might help you. Have you looked on a dental plan before? They are way more cheaper than a dental insurance. They come in individual and family packages. You pay around $100 - $200 per year for a dental plan. If you want more info about them you can visit this site. http://individual-dental-plans.weebly.co… Now, the site they recommend have dental plans both for families like you and your son and for individuals. I hope you get some more alternatives. Take care!

What to do with no dental insurance?

My friend has a rotting tooth in the back of his mouth. About 4 years ago he got a temporary cap put on and has not been to the dentist since. He has no dental insurance and the tooth is infected and starting to rot. What does he need to have done and how much should he expect to pay?
--------------------
Prices vary by location. It is really hard to say how much he could be looking at. He should try to contact the dental society in his area and ask them about low cost dental care. They should be able to help him.

I would strongly encourage you to visit this great site: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago when I was in college and they have saved me thousands of dollars on all of my dental services. From root canals, extractions, crowns, fillings, xrays...etc. Even my braces had great coverage. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use them the very same day. Good luck and hope this help

How can I purchase dental insurance for myself? I'm having a hard time understanding how!?

I want a dental insurance that will pay a good percentage toward fillings, root canals, extractions, and crowns. I am self-employed. Please help! I have never purchased dental insurance and the web search confused me. I also want to make sure there is no waiting period before I can use the benefits, because I need dental work as soon as possible.

You have three options with dental. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. $50 deductible, annual maximum of $750 - $1500, waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With insurance you pay $414 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$10 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With discount plans you pay around $746. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.
