If you call your insurance man, he should have a dental plan available. Then, you will have to "weigh" the cost of the plan against the cost of whatever treatment you need.

which is best a dental plan or insurance?

wanna have lots of work done but really dont know much about either. and torn about which to do.

Considering a dental plan doens't really cover very much, I'd go with a health plan. You'll be paying more out of pocket either way if you use a dental plan. That's with any insurance provider.

Dental plans? insurance?

I am unable to recieve dental insurance from my job. I need some work done asap. I googled dental insurance/plans and got some hits. First question-are these companies legit? also. Does anyone else have independant dental insurance that they didnt get through their job? and is it good? Thanks!!

Most dental insurance has a waiting period before you get full benefits. You have five options with dental. 1. Go without insurance. If you just want the basics you probably don't need any plan. A yearly cleaning and exam and even an occasional filling will cost you less without insurance. 2. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you. You can find one here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Den… 3. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With insurance you pay $460 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. 4. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With discount plans you pay around $827. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… concerning these plans. 5. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

if a person does not have insurance and has a dental emergency what can the person do?

my husband has a tooth problem but he doesn't have insurance what do you think i should do?

Medical Discount Plan ideal for those who cannot afford or qualify for traditional health insurance. The companies offer discounted health services for a quite low monthly fee. Benefits include a range of discounts for doctors, hospitals, dental, vision, prescriptions, vitamins, as well as other health services. Individual & Family Health Plans This is a major health insurance plan for individuals and families. If you are looking for comprehensive long term health insurance coverage for yourself and/or your family members who are 62 years old or younger - this is the plan to choose. Short Term Medical Plans This plan is ideal for individuals in transition. Maybe you have just graduated from college and are no longer covered under your student health insurance or you moved out on your own, and you're no longer covered under your parents' medical insurance plan. Or perhaps you're employed part-time, going to school, leaving home for the first time, or even retiring early. Maybe you've found a new job, but your new employer's group health insurance plan won't kick in until you've been with months. YOu are not the only one who met this problem,I have met this type of problem before.I have good experience here    www.HealthInsuranceIdeas.info    to solve my similiar problem.

wisdom teeth/dental insurance question.?

I need to get my wisdom teeth taken out, and I just lost my job that gave me dental insurance to cover it. The Procedure costs 1,800 dollars...I could pay for it out of pocket but I was wondering if it would end up being cheaper to purchase my own dental insurance policy and get it done that way? any help would be great, also, does anyone know of cheap dental insurance for a 19 year old male? I don't know what matters with dental insurance....so I don't know if it would be cheap or not. Thanks!

Are there any dental schools around your area? The reason I ask is because a few years ago I needed to have my wisdom teeth taken out immediately because they had developed cysts around them and they were in danger of rupturing. I had no insurance either mdeical or dental and I wasn't making much money so I called the dental school here in Dallas, Texas which is the Baylor College of Dentistry and I found out about a program that they had. I went to the college and filled out an application and a few days later someone from the college called me in. The school has this program in which dental students that are in their last year of dental school need patients to practice on. So the school screens patients and assigns patients to dental students who provide dental care at a very minimal cost. The students work under the supervision of several dental doctors who supervise them. I had an actual dentist remove my wisdom teeth. He was studying to get his certification in orthodontal surgery. The entire cost of the surgery including x-rays, anesthesia, and post op visit to the doctor was $750. It is worth a try calling around and asking. Plus the dentist was really nice and they did a really good job.

If I'm on a Family plan Medicaid (Aatena Better Health), Do I still need a separate insurance for Dental?

I understand that 99% of dentists will not accept medicaid. My tooth is decaying and I have no where to go. How much am I looking to spend for a dental plan that's not medicaid?

I would call your health insurer and see what's covered. There's no way we can know what your plan covers.
