suggestions instead of dental crown?

Had horrible experience w/dentist. New crown, improper fit. Bite off, couldn't eat. Tooth abscessed, root canal done. Need new crown. Insurance won't pay for another one. Wondering what I can do? Any suggestions please?

You shouldn't need a new crown. They should have just gone through the crown to do the root canal. And then placed a filling in it. There is no way to have the insurance pay for it because it is not past the five year mark. If it was the same dentist who placed the crown and did the root canal, you should not be charged for the replacement crown. He/she should be doing it for nothing, since he/she damaged the crown in the process of the root canal. At least, that is the way we do things in our office. The tooth did not abscess due to the crown being ill fitting, and if the bite was off, it could have been adjusted. Did you complain to the dentist about the bite and not being able to eat? If you did and it was never fixed, then you may have recourse with the insurance company. Call them and ask for advice from them. Good Luck, I think you may need it in this case.
