I know that I need to go to a dentist ASAP because all my wisdom teeth are coming in and they are causing me alot of pain, my gums are swelling and bleeding and I probably have cavities too since I haven't been to a dentist in about 3 years. The problem is I have no dental insurance and I barely earn enough money to pay the bills I already have. Is there anything that I could do?

Either find a free clinic or a school (dental or dental hygiene) were you can get the best full service for VERY nominal fees. Either way, please don't keep letting it go because infection can travel to your brain and other organs -- or bad teeth can start affecting the ones adjacent to them. Good luck!!!!

Good cheap dentist in NYC?
I have no dental insurance. Need to get my teeth cleaned. Want a good dentist who won't rook me and tell me I need all kinds of sealants. I have strong, healthy teeth. They're just a little dirty. Know anyone good in NYC??

lower left molar chipped and loose?
ok. so i was eating some corn nuts when all of a sudden my lower left molar cracked it hurts like hell. about a quarter of the tooth is loose and i dont have dental insurance what can i do to make the pain stop or even extract it out. the same tooth is where i got a filling for a root canal. PLEASE HELP

Hate to say it, but you really DO need to get to a dentist. Don't by any means try and extract the tooth yourself! Without seeing the tooth it is hard to say, but I would get to a dentist ASAP to have the full workup/ emergency evaluation completed.

Tooth ache for the past two weeks! Help!!!?
It started two weeks ago when I had a bunch of junk food. My teeth started to hurt it's not excruciating -- it feels more like someone is lightly pinching you on the arm. I didn't take it very serious until today when I realized how long I've had this pain. This pain is coming from a broken tooth that I have about 6 months. I don't have dental insurance and I cannot afford $500 just for an X-ray and a tooth extraction. What is wrong with me?

Should I get invisalign?
My parents could never afford braces when i was younger, im not 17 and i dont like my teeth, they arnt horrible but i dont have a wide smile and i have this one crooked tooth and im very insecure about it. I dont have dental insurance and im not rich,,,should i get invisalign?

Botox as treatment for TMD?
I am currently experiencing "lockjaw" as a result of years of grinding my teeth. I can fit 2 fingers in my mouth and that's it. My diet and even my speech has been effected by my inability to open my mouth past that 2 fingers' width. I have no dental insurance, but I was wondering if doses of Botox injected into the muscles in my jaw would help to ease the "locked" muscles enough to open my mouth again. Should I talk to a dentist or a plastic surgeon?

When I was in college my jaw "locked up" also. I could not even stick a spoon in my mouth. I think I drank everything through a straw for about 2 weeks. They told me to take high doses of motrin every 6 to 8 hours to try to get the inflammation down. I think they even perscribed a muscle relaxer too. It did help a little, but it definately wasn't a quick fix. I don't think botox was popular then so it wasn't an option for me. I would call your dentist first and he should be current with the treatment options and steer you in the right direction. (on the up side, I lost 10 lbs when my jaw locked) Good luck.

Bad Toothache???
I have a major toothache. it is worst during the night. what can i take for it. i just started a new job and i would not be able to get dental insurance for the next two months and to go to a dentist is so much money and as i said i just started working so i can't really afford to see a dentist at this moment. my tooth broke and i never check on it and i think it has decaded really bad.........so what should i do, i tried pain killers, home remedies but nothing seems to work any more.............help!!!!!!!!!!

I know you are not going to like this answer, but as a practicing dentist (DMD) you are going to need to see your regualr dentist or take a visit to your local emergency room. You may have an infection, or abscessed tooth which is not only extremely painful, but also very life threatening. Your are going to need to be prescribed an antibiotic as this infection will NOT go away on its own. Your best bet is to call a dentist to schedule an emergency appointment, your dentist will be able to prescribe you an antibiotic and pain medication and this will save you from a costly visit to your ER as you will only end up needing to be seen by a dentist anyway. An infected tooth (abscess) is a very serious problem that only your dentist will be able to treat; if not treated this infection can spread to the throat causing airway obstructions, and can also spread to the heart and brain. Until you can see a dentist or visit your local ER (either one you will need to do because you will need an antibiotic) try using a cold compress on the face closest to the tooth thats bothering you. Also try taking Motrin or Advil, this will not only help with pain but also help with any inflammation or swelling. By all means, PLEASE see a dentist or ER physician as soon as possible. Good luck!
