Does Cal-COBRA apply to dental insurance?

I have only my dental insurance through COBRA. (My regular health insurance is not through COBRA.) When the 18-month federal COBRA ends, would I be eligible to continue my dental for another 18 months through Cal-COBRA or is Cal-COBRA only for regular health insurance, not dental?
--------------------
Once Federal COBRA is exhausted, Cal-COBRA may extend continuation coverage, up to a combined total of 36 months of coverage. Cal-COBRA coverage is also available for dental, vision and other specialized health plans (such as chiropractic coverage), if these plans are provided by the employer...

In a Dental office position what would Hosting insurance mean?

There is a Dental office front desk position open that says you will need to do billing and Hosting insurance. What is that Hosting insurance?
--------------------
I've been around the front-office world for a long time, and I've never heard of "hosting insurance." Could it be a typo for, "posting insurance" - as in posting payments to a patient ledger? The other possibility is the office is a preferred provider for some insurance plans, but I've never heard the term "hosting" in that context. Is this position in the USA?

Call the dental office and they can provide this information to you. They will also let you know what their financial policy is for the first appointment. Nobody on this site can provide you with the proper answers. Good luck

Is pulling of wisdom teeth medical or dental insurance?

My sister's wisdom teeth, eight years ago, were covered under medical. Today, my dentist is telling me it's covered under dental. There's a BIG difference in the copay!!!
--------------------
If it is done by a general dentist then it's paid for by dental insurance. If it is done by an oral surgeon then depending on your policy it can be covered by either medical or dental insurance.... call your insurance company for details.

Where can i find low cost health insurance that can include dental? I am in GA.?

I havebeen looking everywhere for health insurance that includes dental(because I want braces)but they are so much (like 290 for a adult and 2 children) I am 16 years old looking for health insurance for my dad,me,and my sister.
--------------------
Most health insurance plans do not include dental. Some will have dental as a rider for an extra premium but the plans are generally not very good because of the waiting period and the maximum per year benefits. Some option dental plans won't cover braces at all so you need to check the benefits closely. You have four options with dental. 1. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you. Here is one in Georgia: http://www.mcg.edu/SOD/ 2. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With insurance you pay $460 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. 3. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With discount plans you pay around $827. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… concerning these plans. 4. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

how can i get a new crown with no dental insurance?

are there any clinics?
--------------------
I had a root canal & crown without dental many years ago. I actually got a discount for paying in full up front (I put it on my credit card). But, the dentist may also be willing to set up a payment plan for you. Talk to him or her before you set up the appointment to have it done. Also, I would go to a dentist that has a good reputation for good dental work. Ask around to friends, relatives & co-workers. I had a bad dentist when I was little & he left part of a cavity in a tooth he put a crown on & the tooth rotted on the inside without me even knowing. He also put in a type of a filing that deadened the nerve so I couldn't feel it. By the time it was discovered, the tooth was a mess. My dentist at the time was able to save it but I have probably spent $5,000 on that tooth alone, myself, I don't know what the dental insurance has paid for it over the years.
