intractable tooth ache?

I was asked to remove my decayed wisdom tooth a year before. By then i was not having time as i was moving. Then, i had no problems wiht the pain, so i didn't bother to go to a dentist. Now it hurts badly almost everynight. For the first week, i was taking tylenol daily. then i stopped taking tylenol coz of the fear it may hurt my stomuch if i take daily. then i tried with oragel, it helps; it numbs the ache site. Now i can make it to go to a dentist only after three months coz of financial probs, i dont have dental insurance. What can i do now, is it ok to take tylenol 200 mg daily for 3 months or applying oragel is ok for 3 months. please help.

Actually, ibuprofen is the best over the counter medicine to take, because it is an anti-inflamatory medicine. It will reduce any pressure that is building up inside the tooth due to infection. Another thing to try is, calling your medical doctor and ask if they can prescribe an antibiotic for you, because you have no dentist at this time and no $$. If you have an infection (abcess), which it sounds like you do, an antibiotic will make it feel better within three days, but continue to take the prescription until all pills are gone. If you stop mid-course, your infection will return. Between the antibiotic and ibuprofen you should feel better. over the counter ibuprofen are 200mg each, you can take up to 3-4 at a time, not to exceed 3200mg in a 24 hour period. Have food or milk in your stomach to ensure no belly ache. Your pharmacist can re-iterate this.
