Has anyone gone to a dental school for braces?

I've gotten an estimate for close to $5,000.00 for my son's braces which he will need next year. I have dental insurance but unfortunately they don't cover braces because it's cosmetic. I called a dental school near my house and they said $3,600.00 which would include all the visits and the retainer afterward. The price break would help out a lot so I'm leaning towards going to the dental school but I was wondering what people's experiences are going to one.

They do good job because your son will be treated by the dentist getting specialty training in Orthodontics. Therefore, they are already licensed dentists. On top of that they will be supervised by the experienced faculty members. Initial deposit maybe a few hundred dollars, then you will have to go in once every 2/3 weeks. It varies from $150 - $200 every visit.

Dental insurance?

Hey guys I have couple of questions regarding dental insurance. I need to get 3 of my teeth fixed but the price on the work is pretty high and I am afraid that I wont be able to cover it on my own so I am looking for a dental insurance. If I get a insurance in 10 minutes can I go get my teeth fixed tomorrow or do I have to wait a certain period of time before I can go and use it? How much do I need to cover on my own? What does the insurance cover? invasaline? and the last one Which is the best on FL?

Check out this website. www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I have signed up online 2 years ago, and they have saved me alot of money on all dental procedures. I needed it ASAP. My benefits were active in 2 hours. Wow. Good Luck

dental insurance?

does anyone know what insurance I can purchase for individual that will cover at least half or more of my dental work?
--------------------
Dental insurance for individuals is not very good. First you have the premium which could be anywhere from $30 to $60 per month, then you have a deductible (usually $50), then you have an annual limit of $750 to $1500. If you need some major work done you may have a waiting period of 6 to 36 months. I have found the dental discount plans to be very good (don't fall for the medical discount plans, though, because most are scams). Plans will start at about $80 per year. They have a set fee schedule so you know what you are paying up front. There is no deductible, no waiting period and no yearly maximums. You can compare over 30 plans here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… and can look up your dentist to see if he is in the plan.

dental insurance?

does anyone know where to purchase dental insurance if your employer does not provide it

Why don't you see if it's offered? You may have to pay out-of-pocket for it, but it will be muuuuuch cheaper than getting it on your own. :)

dental insurance?

Hi, i'm looking for a good dental insurance and a good dentist in philadelphia.
--------------------
You have five options with dental. 1. Go without insurance. If you have good teeth and just want the basics you probably don't need any plan. A yearly cleaning and exam and even an occasional filling will cost you less without insurance. 2. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you. You can find one here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Den… 3. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With insurance you pay $460 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. 4. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With discount plans you pay around $827. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… concerning these plans. 5. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

Does anyone out there sell/promote online one of those "dental plans"?[not insurance]?

I'm just curious because I would REALLY like to sell/promote one of these companies for extra monthly cash. But would feel like also that it is a great help for a lot of ppl out there who do not have dental insurance like me. I got one similiar [different name] from ameriplan, but saved like 40-60% on every single dental procedure. Had to have 2 root canals and more, and HAD to save money somehow since both co. my husband and I work for are too cheap to pay their employees dental insurance anyway, is it realistic actually to have this as a side business to not only help ppl in need of something like this but to have a small business [not losing cash?] or is this a stupid pyramid scheme? I mean I love my membership but the OTHER end of it would be questionable 'i think', not sure thats why I am asking someone out there who MIGHT know from 1st hand experience TY

Yes, it's never a bad idea to try especially when mine won't cost you anything to setup. We offer one of the best plans available and your friends and families won't even believe you when you tell them how good of a deal your providing them with! It's a new plan, dentists participate nationwide, some 81,000! so there are bound to be participating dentists in your area! The plan only costs $49 (single) and $99 (entire family!), savings are typically 20-50%...but the plan highlight is the number of participating dentists we have and the cost of only $49! The commissions are pretty good and if you live in an area where you know there are a bunch of people who need this you'll do very well! http://www.dentacard.com visit the website and check it out, then just click on the contact us link and send us a hello and that your interested... start up cost is 0 and all you need is an affiliate ID # and you can start signing people up immediately.

I am looking for good insurance for medical/perscription/vision/dental?

I have looked at various companies but which is the best. And do any companies provide more than one of these? Can you mix two or more insurances together?
--------------------
I would suggest mixing up a high deductible catastrophic insurance with the MySimpleCard Membership.
