My wisdom teeth have been growing in for quite some time, but as I don't have health/dental insurance coverage, I can't get them taken out yet. Right now they are in a growing phase, and everytime this happens, about every few months, my jaw seems to grind and pop when I chew or talk. Are my teeth messing up my jaw alignment? What is going on here?
--------------------
I just had my wisdoms taken out 2 weeks ago and it was worth it. Mine were doing the same thing and having them gone has made a huge awesome difference. Like you, I don't have dental coverage and it costed us $1500. It would have been more but we talked to some places and they found appropriate ways for us to save money. You could always take out a loan to pay for it. Having them out is going to make a difference when a year from now you're in serious pain because you didn't have them taken out earlier. Seriously the earlier the better. Just get it over with !

Cracked Molar, no insurance. Any advice would be appreciated.?
Molar cracked, no insurance. Any advice please? I went to a dentist and she said I needed to have root planing/scaling, a root canal and a crown put in on my bottom left molar which is cracked off. Total cost would be around $4,000. I just got a new job so my dental wont kick it for another 3 months or so but the pain is starting to be unbearable I think it is infected as the tooth is very sensitive to the touch and it has a pulsing pain that is keeping me from sleeping. Has any use the stuff on dentalplans.com? Like the GE Wellness or Aetna Dental Access? Will the dentist jack up the prices or treat me differently if i ask about them? Will most dental insurance even cover this kind of stuff on a newly started policy? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

$4000 is too much. Find another dentist. Expect to pay around $1000 for a root canal and $800 for the crown (whole procedure and crown)

Is there anywhere where I can find inexpensive low cost dental providers / dentists in the DC area?
I am looking for inexpensive dentists in the Washington DC area. I do not have insurance, so I really can not afford the expense. As of now, I just need a cleaning, but potential more work may need to be done. If you have any advice on who I should see or where I should go, please let me know!

I would encourage you to visit this great site: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands on all services. From root canals, cleanings, xrays, exams...etc. All services are included in this very affordable plan. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. hope this helps and good luck.

You need a supplemental plan that can help you right away (no waiting periods) and that has no annual limits. Couple of possibilities below.

Is it safe to use fluoride rinses more than once a day? Three times a day?
Just wondering, cuz I heard a someone once say that fluoride rinses can actually reverse cavities, if they are small enough. I don't have any dental insurance, so I have been using fluoride rinses 2 sometimes 3 times a day. I have always had perfect teeth, but I am just being cautious, since it might be a long time before I see a dentist again. Just want to know that it's safe, because the bottle only says "once a day for 1 min...no food or drink for 1/2hr"....but then a person I once talked to said that the flouride in those rinses are nothing more than what your toothpaste can do for you. I don't know what to believe. But I can't imagine that this will hurt me since I spit it out anyway....however, is it of any benefit? I was also under the impression that you didn't need flouride after the age of 18, but my dentist said that they only do that because most insurance only covers flouride for 18 and under.

Using the fluoride that often wont hurt you because the amount of fluoride in the mouthwash is low. It is a little easier to get between your teeth than toothpaste, so you will still get some benefit, but you only need to do it once a day. As for the whole only once every 6 months, the fluoride you get at the dentist is WAY WAY stronger. It is something you can only get there, not even a perscription for what you would get at the dentist can be given. There are perscription fluorides available for about 20 a bottle, but if you do not have cavity prone teeth, you will be ok.

Dental Insurence for poor people?
I have a friend who works full time, but his employer does not offer dental insurance. He has serious dental issues and needs work done ASAP. right now he is suffering a severely painful absence. He has bad credit so he can't finance the work he needs done, he tried and has been turned down. I was looking up cheap dental insurance but haven't really had much luck with anything that will kick in soon. The ER will only give him antibiotics but he needs a root canal, and even if he can get the ER to pull this tooth, he still has much more work that needs to be done. I came across something called "True Care Dental Plans". It's not Insurance though, it's a plan for $13.95/month that will give you a discount on certain dentist who participate in the plan, but you have to pay the rest of the fee in full up front. Does anyone have any ideas of how i can get his teeth taken care of? Im afraid he'll end up with dentures by the Time he's 30! Also here's the link for the True Care site maybe someone can understand it more then me. http://truedentaldiscounts.com/pickaplan.asp?OVKEY=dental%20plans%20g&gclid=CLj_uezlyZwCFeFM5QodLD57JQ

From my experience it's really hard to find an actual dental insurance plan unless its offered through a group such as your job. However you should look in to dental discount plans. Although they are not actual insurance plans they can still help you save a significant amount of money. i recently joined this plan : http://www.healthplansplus.net/dentalplus.html It has actually saved me a lot of money. Dental insurance is not offered through my job and I feel like this is the next best thing. I initially joined the plan because I wanted to get braces, but the Orthodontist quoted me over $5,000. I started looking into these plans and Ameriplan saved me over $2500.00. My braces only ended up being $2400.00. These planes cover a pretty wide range of services, but you have to go to a dentists that is contracted with the plan. The plan that I purchased through Ameriplan is only about $8.00 per month. It's proven itself worth up until now. You can also ask your dentist office if they know of any insurance plans or discount plans that they participate in that would be beneficial to you. You can also visit this website and it can provide you with a list of dental plans in your area that you can enroll in: http://www.dentalplans.com/ Most dental office will also work out a in-house payment arrangement with you in conjuction with any dental plan. Hope this helps : -) Source(s): http://www.dentalplans.com/ http://www.healthplansplus.net/dentalplus.html
